Wishing to learn more Sebastian cut open the mutant to see if the mutation was cureable.

Thierry made his way down the familiar computer-lined corridors of the Computer Core. How could he forget this place? Much of his brilliance was used to ensure that every system on the Submarine was in the correct working order, or telling the lower-ranking technicians how to do it properly themselves. Sure the appearance was dull and the dust was frequent, but Thierry couldn't think of any other place he'd rather be on the ship, especially at this hour.

He arrived at his workstation and was instantly bombarded with error messages coming from the core itself. Among the red flashing boxes he saw many equipment malfunction errors and missing part errors... not that he could fix any of these problems without an entire engineer crew at his disposal.

He decided to ignore these and checked the status of each main system, adjusting what needed to be changed in order to improve the functionality of the ship. Some of the functions ought to still be in working order, and someone ought to keep it that way.

Twenty-two hours after initial infection

Sight Deck

Fraser decided – now that the asteroid danger had passed – to send his help broadcast through the external comms. The message was successfully sent off. However, he had no idea if anyone would respond to it. Even if someone would, the question that hung in the air was: Would help come in time?

Down on the Bridge, Scruffy was getting a bit worried over the fact that the Watcher had been gone for quite a length of time and had not returned. Just like Chang. He feared the worst, but realised that he could not go out and search alone, so he decided to search for Fraser. However, when moving to exit the bridge, he heard a terrifying howl from the Atrium, causing him to pause and reconsider. Still, he decided to press on. What met him when he opened the door was not the best of sights though. Excepting the fact that the Atrium had deteriorated further during his absence, with his box fort being partly infested by some of that organic growth, and one or two stalactite-like formations of the fleshy substance hanging from the ceiling (which was in worse shape than the floor, mind you).

However, those were not the bad news. The bad news was the big, hulking mutant that seemed to be made out of numerous bodies fused together, kinda; it was rather hard to discern if that actually was the case though as it had a hard carapace surrounding most of its more vulnerable parts.

Medical Deck

Sebastian wanted to know more of the mutants themselves, and therefore – when he saw the deserted state of the Wintergarden – went back to where he had killed the mutant that had ambushed him. He cut open its torso, to find a rather gruesome sight. Its internal organs had been radically altered and repurposed to become an efficient killing machine. Several important organs were missing, though the lungs were notably still present, albeit altered. Unfortunately, he was unable to study the creature closer due to a lack of instruments, so he took a few tissue samples which he could analyse at a place more suited for that purpose.

Marklar decided to head out to engineering to acquire the necessary parts to repair his cart. He arrived at the Engineering Deck without incident, and managed to acquire some fuel, and something to fix the starting system of the cart. However, he quickly realised that extra tires would probably be in the Cargo & Weapons Deck. [Items acquired: Fuel, Starter]

Hydroponics Deck

The Watcher searched the body of the dead "breather" mutant, coming up with an ID card. This card told him that the name of the man was Tomislav Andrejević, a Hydroponics worker. He did not know if that was important or not, but he did also find an audio log on Tomislav as well that concerned Food Storage. Apparently, Tomislav had been in there shortly before the area was locked down. The man spoke of "locking in that thing". What the "thing" was not really elaborated upon. However, the audio log also revealed that the man was authorised to access Food Storage from Atmosphere Control, regardless of if it was locked down or not. [Item Get: Food Storage Access]

However, when he made to leave the room to search for more of the mutants poisoning the air, he was jumped by a new and weird sort of mutant. It fell upon him from the ceiling, attempting to bite through the Watcher's armour with its sharp teeth. The Watcher was able to throw it off before sustaining too much damage. However, the thing quickly recovered, landing on its four legs and charging forward with its spider-like body. The Watcher was quick to blast it in the face with his rifle, causing it to stagger, and giving him enough time to throw a grenade into its mouth. The grenade detonated and destroyed the mutant's spherical middle part that held the corpse contraption together, killing it. [Status: Wounded]

While Nikolaus went to get some breather masks, Carlos decided to venture into Air Filtration after the Watcher, in spite of his lack of proper breathing apparatuses. He looked around the area, but his lungs hurt more with each intake of the noxious gases. He began feeling a bit dizzy, stumbling around the area with eyes that could barely see. Half-choking on the noxious gases, he entered a room to find a mutant sitting on the floor and breathing in and out. He moved to knock it out with his club, and managed a powerful enough swing that killed the creature and allowed the ship computer to vent the room of noxious gases.

However, the gases had taken its toll on him, and he fell unconscious just as the Watcher and Nikolaus both entered the room – the latter protected by a fully functional and modern gas mask. [Carlos Status: Bad(Wounded, Poisoned, Sick)]

Thierry made a few adjustments to the settings in the Computer Core. He improved the shoddy work made to restore that Defence Turrets' automated functions, re-activated the emergency blast shield function (blast doors seal or seal off areas that are exposed to vaccuum), allowed manual re-fueling if such a thing would be needed, re-activated the automated repair bots, turned off gravity generators on plates that had been torn open, turned on elevator music, and allocated more power to the units that kept the ship steady since if they ever went inactive that would start a process that could end in the ship smashing into Mnemosyne's surface. He also routed some more power to the doors of the ship, unlocking a few routes that had been inaccessible due to not enough power.

Unfortunately, some of these adjustments required precious power that was drawn from other systems. The already strained ventilation system in particular went completely offline, along with the damaged nearly nonexistent remnants of the surveillance system, as well as ship-wide broadcasting.

"Blast it the Ventilation has gone off line with out it these gases can't be removed. There seems to be something in the Food Storage area. But first search around for any medical supplies that may enable me to heal myself and maybe Carlos. If we don't help him soon I'd hate to think what'll happen to him."

I don't think we will find any supplies down here in hydroponics, at least none that aren't already covered in this organic growth or tainted by the poisonous air. We should head up to the medical deck and get both of you looked over. I'll carry Carlos and put the gas mask I found for him on him to prevent anymore poisonous air from entering his system, while you cover us with your machine gun, after doing a quick search for any useful supplies here.

Thierry signed out of his workstation, having done what he could. "It's not my best work..." he grumbled to the empty screen "...but it should do. What good would ventilation do for us if that bumbling guardsman ever manages to blow a hole in the ship? The entire ship is infested, no need to waste power on the cameras to see that. And nobody's been listening to me anyways, so what's the point of broadcasting?". That's not to say these functions were useless in his mind, but unless the ship began putting out more power, they would have to take a backseat to the core functions that the Submarine absolutely needed to survive a journey home... if that was even a good idea anymore.

Thierry checked his pistol to see if it need more ammo loaded into it, and put in what he was able to. After his last confrontation he knew that he would need something more reliable if he needed to get out of anymore desperate situations, so he made his way to the elevator and to the Zero-G Cricket area from there to look for supplies & potential weaponry.

"Things might be going awry, but at least I can afford myself some luxury." he commented as a mellow tune echoed from the elevator's walls.

I suppose i can not do actions, as i'm unconscious.

Eh, your character could wake up if you want him to. The conscious/unconscious deal is not a big one. The big deal is the bad status. ;)

Scruffy decided to run back into the bridge, lock the door and then search for an alternate route of exit.

Hmm, I am feeling a little peckish. Time to look for some food and supplies. Hopefully I will run into somebody along the way and find out what the hall is going on.

GM: 24hour countdown started.

"Well I best get these probes back to the medical laboratory and research them properly", Sebastian muttered to himself before heading there with caution and alertness.

OOC: I'm sick and was out of town last weekend.

OOC: So when poor old DoomBunny is ill and busy it's not an excuse, but when you are it is?

*DoomBunny shakes his head at clear double standards*

Scruffy made the prudent decision to lock himself inside the bridge before the...thing, could react. Relieved, he looked around the bridge for an alternative exit. All he could find were the empty escape pod hatches, along with that one nonfunctional pod. As he observed the room, he thought he heard the creature running around out there. Another thing of note was that the ventilation system was seemingly dead, allowing quite the bad stench to seep through into the room.

Fraser went around Communications, trying to find supplies. He didn't actually find much edible, as much of what lay around had been infested and turned into the organic growth that lingered all around the sub-deck. He did find an unopened package supposedly containing "Franz's Fried Frogs"...in a pool of the organic growth.

Sebastian set off towards the Research Wing of the Medical Deck with his samples in hand. Once there, he set to work analysing them. He made quite a few discoveries. The mutants weren't really mutants as much as they were a completely different life-form. Their DNA had been wholly rewritten. This also explained why only dead humans seemed to become mutants. However, Sebastian surmised that live humans could actually also be turned into mutants, though they would certainly retain many human characteristics, if not most of them. Of course, that was just his theorising and he had no idea if it was true or not.

Another thing he discovered was the fact that the mutants are not as resilient to intense heat as they are in general. Thus, lasers are incredibly effective against them, but flamethrowers are also of use, albeit far from as effective.

The Watcher and Nikolaus set off towards the Medical Deck, carrying Carlos. Luckily, they did not encounter any mutants. Arriving at Medical, moved to the Clinic and gathered up needed medical supplies, as well as fixing up Carlos, who had awakened by the time they'd arrived. [Carlos Status: Healthy]

Thierry reloaded his pistol, and then proceeded to the Zero-G Cricket arena to look for potential weapons and/or supplies. Exiting the Computer Core and running through the Cargohold, he thought he saw a human run around the Cargohold. In any case, once he had arrived at the Zero-G Cricket court on the Crew Deck, he set to scavenging. Thierry found a cricket bat, in addition to the thoroughly infested changing rooms, with the court itself being in better shape.

Marklar managed to successfully gather the parts he needed from the Cargohold.

Scruffy decided to enter the air conditioning ducts. He planned to cautiously bypass the Atrium through the vents (trying not to breathe any fumes) and then lock the creature in from the outside.
