Yes inclusive design is absolutely critical, I spoke with a gamer who has a disability and uses foot pedal switches as input controls for things (these pedals could be mapped to macros so they were universal for any game once the macros were setup). For this gentleman , who had three foot pedals available, assigning the foot pedals to 'up', 'down', & return would be a huge improvement for his gameplay experience over trying to use a mouse with his imparied motor control.
To be clear I don't want mouse controls removed, I would like keyboard controls added alongside mouse controls so that gamers can use both at the same time.
A real world example of this is the Skyrim U.I. which was designed around console input. When the game was ported to PC the U.I. was kept the same and navigating dialogue became a real chore. Thankfully modders fixed the U.I. (and implemented proper keyboard controls [Mod edit: no nexus mod, no unapproved links] The user was still able to use the mouse to click dialogue options and navigate their inventory but these changes made it much easier to also use the keyboard to do the same.
