When I change the screen resolution in-game, it gets applied fine, but appears to use a virtual screen of the original size, with panning enabled. So when I move the pointer to the right or the lower edge of the screen, the screen pans and reveals part of the desktop underneath. This does not happen if I lower the resolution from the Gnome Settings screen or using xrandr.

I'm on ubuntu 18.04 but had the same issue on 16.04. I'm using nvidia proprietary driver 390.48 with a Geforce 750Ti
