I had this problem in the original Warlock (now sandbox mode), I often found it hard to locate portals on the map. Now with Exiled/Outland mode, portals are super important.

Would it be possible to add a very bright/noticeable hex color or glow when the minimap is visible for any hex containing a Portal?

A hotkey to cycle focus through portals on the current plane would be welcome.

Related, it would be super nice if the tooltip for a portal showed the destination plane. Keeping track of what portal goes where can get brain bending over time.

And finally, how about adjusting the color/shading of those yellow lines in the plane overview map so they have more contrast with each other and the background. Figuring out what plane connects where when they criss cross, especially in a larger universe can get really confusing. Changing their hue slightly for different plane connections and generally tinkering with the visibility would be great.

While you're on the topic of shading and contrast, I'd like to request a change in the contrast between the colours used for showing the path a unit can take. It shows up white for hexes that a unit can move that turn and yellow on hexes that can't be moved to that turn. The contrast between the white and the yellow is very hard to see, especially on certain terrain like desert and autumn maps. I'd like to suggest you use bolder colours to show the path, colours that can be easily seen. I guess white is good as it does show up well against most terrains. For the other colour though, it needs to be strikingly different from white so you can see exactly how far that unit can go that turn. Mellow yellow just isn't bold enough. How about red? or a much brighter yellow?

I agree that would be very useful. In the meantime, my workaround is to found a special city near the portal and rename it with the destination.

That would be a nice improvement.
Here's a quick mockup using the current tooltip:

In fact, it's from one of my recent savegames and that shard has four portals.
I put a simple coloured hex in the minimap but a specific icon would be better (I'm unsure the minimap rendering system can manage that).

Another good way to spot the destination shard would be to hover the portal with the cursor with the shards minimap on. The destination shard could simply be highlighted?

And of course if the destination shard has not been visited yet, the tooltip should not display the destination shard name and type.

I hope the devs will consider that simple modification ;)

Totally agree with this. Some kind of indicator to show where portals go would be huge. It should only show up after you've gone through it the first time. I've started having to name my cities to show where the portals go just so I don't send units wandering around wasting turns to get where I need to be.

I like the suggestions here.

I'd also add that it would be great to have the connecting lines for your current plane hilighted in the plane overview. When you have a lot of shards, the overlaps get hard to deal with.

I'd also like to see what kind of hexes and enchantments are currently on you. I like to keep prophetic dreams up and it's annoying to keep having to go to the diplomacy screen to see if it's timed out.
