Um Freiheit und Leben!

I'm still new to AoD and I haven't learned all the new features but I will do my best not to fail.

I will play on
  • 1936 scenario
  • normal/normal difficulty
  • Full IC/tech team take over OFF
  • Mostly gameplay but some story

My goals with this is:
  • Have fun
  • Get better at AoD
  • Not die

If you have any suggestions I will be glad to hear them, if they are good I will most likely use them :)

As a reply to Il Duce :)

Viel Glück, Good luck!
No suggestions for the moment, I'm still learning AoD.

1936- 1937

ScreenSave5.jpg

Ok, so I started by organizing my army and put them where I want them.

ScreenSave1-1.jpg

Okay, so I start to put A LOT of stuff into research since they change that so now you can have up to 10 research slots, I think I have about 9 but there isnt 9 1936 techs so I have to pick some '37 and '38 techs.

ScreenSave2-1.jpg

i move one step towards 'Free market' to recive the reduced upgrade time

ScreenSave4.jpg

I put some IC in the production queue to get my IC up and get that last research slot but i also want more ic so I can build more :D

ScreenSave6.jpg

Ethiopia is annexed...

ScreenSave9.jpg

My first divisions of infantry is completed (sorry I forgot to print screen when I build it)

ScreenSave10.jpg

The spanish civil war starts

ScreenSave11.jpg

the first series of industry is completed

ScreenSave14.jpg

Rep. Spain is on the brink of defeat..

---------------------------------------------------------------------

After this nothing exciting happend really, hopefully 1937 will have some more action.

Btw, doesnt the f11 (printscreen) function work when you try to print an event? cuz nothing happens when I try to print them.

Good luck,

F11 doesn't seem to work for event pop-up's, it's not recorded mine for sure.

AoD has changed the way IC and resources are calculated in a Province, I'm not sure of the exact math but building IC alone is no longer the best way; you need to improve the infrastructure of Province's as well (up to a max. of 200%) which increases the effective level of IC and resource production. The new super-fast build feature is also useful for this.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR!

Polishwar.jpg

I was so concentrated to fight the poles that I forgot to print screen, I'll try to discribe how I defeated them.

ScreenSave28.jpg

Im kinda satisfied with the kill/death ratio in Poland, although I could've saved 30.000 men if I'd payed a little more attention in East Prussia :(

----------------------------------------------

so the war has started :D comment if u wanna see some statistic or anything... :p

Well, congrats for your victory! (even if the Eastern Prussia campaign was a kind of disaster...:( )
What about air losses?

Yeah, I always fail to remember those troops in every game I play as germany xD

well so far I've lost 106 fighters and 449 bombers, the poles lost 108 fighters and 114 bombers. I havent been building any airforce until now because I've prioritized other stuff like inf and subs. but now I got 20x1 interceptors and 15x1 CAS incomming, will soon add some Tac's to that, I've also been building a sub fleet and got about 5 rank VI subs in Rostock I think.

I used to have the same problem when I was new to HoI2 but after seeing East Prussia under polish occupation long after their capital fell it was a good time to not forget it :p

hahah :p I think i gotta learn that too

anyway, I've played until april 1940 and it's really bad, I've got draged into a fight with the french on the border and after like 7 months i finally win but it cost me like 480.000 men and about 1500 aircrafts... so things havent really been going my way lately

I used to forget to put those troops under log wizards. Now I always do them first.

Yeah, I always fail to remember those troops in every game I play as germany

It was the case in Armageddon tha the quickest route to Warsaw and the end of Poland is from East Prussia from Elbing through Torun and then Warsaw. Put 24 Divisions in Elbing and on anything other than Very Hard settings they'll march straight to Warsaw defeating everything in there path without pause.

No matter anyway as the Poland campaign was a success.

I haven't got round to Germany yet, been soundly beaten playing France so I'll be interested to see what the French AI can do.

DISASTEROUS CAMPAIGN IN FRANCE, CLAIMS 1 MILLION MEN

That's the headlines on the worlds newsmagazines after the fall of France

ScreenSave30.jpg

It all starts with the French attacking Germany.
The German advance is slow and the OKW is getting more and more frustrated with the standstill and fears another trenchwar so they try to rush through Belgium and the Netherlands but the German forces are too few up there and the Belgian forts together with the French quickly stops the advance into Belgium and Netherlands.

ScreenSave7.jpg

The German troops climbs over mountains of dead Germans and Frenchmen but they slowly pushes the French away from their forts and out on the open plains.

ScreenSave9-1.jpg

After bitter fighting for every Town, every house every room, every hill, every road, every river the German troops finally makes a breakthrough and occupies most oo southern France

It's no longer a battle, it's a vengeance, a vengeance for the several houndreds of thousands dead Germans. The troops no longer feel the joy or excitement to fight a war, they have seen all the horrors of the war and are more like the machines they ride in than humans.

The Portoguese, the Spaniards and the Italians joins Germany in it's fight for vengeance.

The French, now desperate sends young boys and old men to the front, there are no more fresh and full divisions, all the divisions the German troops meet are heavily decimated and on the brink of collapse

ScreenSave12.jpg

ScreenSave14-1.jpg

Paris taken the third time the Wehrmacht attacks it, shortly after the French have had enough and capitulate to the German supremacy.

French soldiers drops their guns all over France and the Benelux and the dutch and the Belgian troops suddenly realise that they are alone against the German Onslaught.

ScreenSave15.jpg

Belgium and the Netherlands are quickly overruned after the French defeat.

And so ends one of the darkest chapters in human history. About 1 million German, French, Belgian, British and Dutch soldiers looses their lives in France, Belgium and the Netherlands, out of these 1 million roughly 480.000 men is German. Never shall Germany forget this bloody campaign and it shall be a reminder to the future.

---------------------------------------------------------
Ok so ends the French campaign, during that time I also managed to capture Denmark and Norway in Operation Weserübung but I chosed to focus on the French campaign since it is in my opinion awefully extreme in terms of death.

I know I made a huge mistake by letting my ego take control and kept attacking the French forts. I guess im no better than Hitler when it comes to military brilliance *cry*

Eyewitness directly after the French surrender

Friday July 17, 1940

White flags were hanging out of windows in villages we passed on the way, just as they had been hanging out of many of the windows in Paris. At one point we stopped to ask directions from a group of young French soldiers - in uniform but disarmed and apparently plodding along on their way home - a half-dozen young men, courteous, giving us directions as best they could, -showing no trace of hatred or resentment, or of being whipped in battle. They looked like farmers' sons.

We were on the wrong road. We turned around, and I dropped a package of cigarettes as we passed them by. Regulations forbid our giving rides to French. There is to be 'no fraternization.' One is not supposed even to shake hands with them or give a bit of food or candy to the children...

The winding, stone-paved road up the mountain*side to Gamelin's headquarters was filled with German military vehicles - jeeps and trucks filled with soldiers, WACS, and Army nurses, apparently bent on seeing where the French Generalissimo had lived and operated.

...Gamelin's quarters and the surrounding buildings had been heavily bombed - gutted, roofs fallen, in ruins. Craters from misses dotted the nearby hillsides. The pine forest around the buildings was stripped of limbs-trunks broken off, split, shattered...

We parked our jeep at the side of the building and climbed up over rubble to a gaping doorway. A few yards up the road I watched a French officer (in charge of the soldiers cleaning up) salute a German officer who passed nearby, bowing his head slightly as he did so. The German officer sauntered by, obviously taking no notice whatever, although the French held the salute until he had passed. I shall never forget the expressions of those two men.

Most of the walls of the building, being thickly built of stone, were standing firmly. Inside, rubble covered the floors, and part of the wooden furnishings had burned. We made our way over the debris on the floor of the room said to be Gamelin's office to the great oblong gap which was once filled with a plate-glass window. It framed almost perfectly a high Alpine range - sharp crags, white fields of snow, saw-tooth peaks against a blue sky, sunlight on the boulders, a storm forming up the valley. It was one of the most beautiful mountain locations I have ever seen.

...We made our way back into the rear chamber. There was the stench of the dead-bodies somewhere only partly buried. We climbed up the mortar-strewn stairs, the end open to the sky where the roof had been blown off. Down again and to the kitchen, edging past a line of doughboys coming in, rifles over shoulders. The floor was covered with twisted utensils and broken dishes; the stoves, with rubble thrown up by the bombs and fallen down from the ceiling."
