I started a new game as a lithoid.

Food is greyed out for both buy and sell so if I want to build BIO-REACTORS, I am unable to to pay the upkeep for them.

Even building agriculture districts keep my food at 0 +0.

Without bioreactors, I am having trouble staying out of the red for energy, even with more than 8 planets since the energy grid can only produce 4 energy.

You can't buy resources on the market until you are producing some of that resource. Try prioritizing the farmer jobs.

Most people consider Bio-Reactors an inefficient means of producing energy. Generally people just sell the food and don't use up a building slot. If you are selling so much food that it tanks the market price, Bio-Reactors might be better.

Another report made in heist. Try reading stellaris wiki and use search. Read bug reporting readme as well before posting. Its not a bug
Don't worry about it. It is fine that you posted your question here. While he has a point that it is probably not a bug, it is normal for new users to think they may have encountered a bug when they don't understand the mechanics. We get a lot of bug reports that are not actually bugs.

Most of us are here to help the new recruits. If this is your first post, I hope you will continue to ask questions in this forum.
