I bought my game on steam, so I wanted to install myself the 1.08 patch.
I copied the steam/SteamApps/common AoD file, then paste in another file (C:/Paradox Games).
I tried to launch the game with Arsenal.exe, and I had this error message:

I verified the game integrity through the cache, reinstalled the game...always same result.
Strange is, I did the same with Darkest Hour, and I hadn't any problem.

Well its not a problem whit AoD its a steam problem but i think the steam version might already be 1.08 but not 100% sure. Anyway u cant use non steam patch on a steam game(any steam game). If the steam version does not show 1.08 at the start send pm to the dev team (Lennartos) and ask him to give the steam patch a push.

The reason why this is a steam problem instead of AoD problem is that steam makes small changes to the software they "sell" and it is linked to the steam account. Anyway what you are talking about here is bit of a borderline topic so be careful.

Steam uses only 1.07.
Yes, Steam still uses 1.07 for some reason (probably sheer laziness).

What you need to (you've probably done most of this, but just for clarification):
1. Install AoD via Steam.
2. Let Steam install the 1.07 update.
3. Download the 1.08 files, unzip them and then copy and past them over your Steam 1.07 version - keep all the AoD files in the Steam folder. If you move/copy the files to a non-Steam folder they won't work.
4. Log into Steam and load up the game via Steam - although so long as all the files are kept in the Steam folder then you should be able to start up the game without needing to sign into Steam (just click on the .exe file).

Hope this works!
