Bought a new computer some time ago, only to find I couldn´t install Eu2 on it. When the game loaded the installation shield I got an error message: "cyclic redundancy check". I am completely clueless as to what this means. I tried reading the FAQ on this forum but I can´t say I got any wiser. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also I might add that I am perhaps not the most computer literate person out there and as this is a swedish version of Windows, the help button is not really useful.

CRC error means some sort of read error.

I can be both your game cd or your cdrom drive that is causing the error.

I would try installing the game at a friends computer to see if its the cd thats scratched, otherwise i'd try to get another cdrom drive.

( if the computer is still rather new, then you can probably get the cdrom drive replaced.)

Well I have Eu2 installed on my old computer from the same disc, I have actually reinstalled Eu2 on my old computer after I bought my new one, so perhaps that´s not it? Also I have installed plenty of other games on my computer, do you still think it´s the cdrom drive?

Here is the entire error message, I´ll have to type it, don´t know how to copy it:

An installation support file
'C:\DOCUME~1\HANSGE~1\LOKALA~1\Temp\{CA5DD6E1-B508-4922-815D-479E3228B17A}\setup.inx'
could not be installed

Datafel(CRC-fel, Cyclic Redundancy Check)

Well as I said the computer is still quite new so I will be happy to bother the vendor if you find it necessary.

If the CD works onyour old computert I would suspect its either your cdrom drive or ( as I just thought of) your RAM.

What is the drive letter of the new CD-rom drive?

It is the letter e. I have a suspicion that your next post will be something along the lines of "read the damn FAQ".:D Well, I actually tried to follow the instructions, but I failed. Yes, I am that stupid. So if you suspect that that might be the problem, where can I change the order of the drives? It would be nice if I could at least rule it out before I carry the damn thing around town.

Also, RAM?

Isn't this the problem that needs the special fix file from SF ?

Okay, sorry for the delay, MrT is away for awhile.

If you are still having problems with this give me a PM.

Don't be fooled by it saying patch installation, it is for the fresh game as well.

I can´t believe that you have dug my little post. Tried it and it works like a charm. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I had really given up hope! And on my birthday too. You guys really deserve a raise. :D

We got a raise. But $0 + 10% = $0.

Glad it fixed you up.
