Local area MP problem with 1.06

I upgraded EU2 on both of my computers from 1.05 to 1.06(Nordic version), but now I can't play local area MP games. When the other player is supposed to join the hosted game, it says there are no hosted games in the menu. But the name of the hosted game is still there in the menu, but greyed out. Why doesn't it work?

I hope I'm posting this in the right forum...
 
Actually I think this is better suited to the MP forum since there are some experts there who can assist you.

I have a french version of EU2. I've started from scratch: erase then install again, then install 1.06. Everything worked fine.
I am able to play the game (single player).
When I try to play multi, I can connect to valkyrie.net join a game but I can t select a country (not downloading the game).
Some people said that my version is incompatible. how can that be ?

On the other hand I can host (tried it a few times)
hope somebody can help
 
Have you tried posting this inb the bug forum? Not a lot of French version posters drop by here. :)
 
Bah, I found out why it didn't work, one little evil 9kb textfile had snuck into one of the folders...

Ah where did you learn that, and can you share what the file is and the problem here? :)

I learned it by searching through the folders... :D The problem was that in the Monarch folder(or maybe it was the Leader folder) in DB there was one "monarchs.lat" file and one "monarchs.lat.txt" file. Removing the txt file did the trick. I have no idea how it got there but I suppose I accidently left it there myself when doing some editing... which is why I didn't immediately shared the solution, since I thought it was my meddling that caused the trouble :D

EDIT: which is the answer to MY problem, not drjones01's. I don't connect to valkyrienet since it has been empty whenever I've tried, so I'm afraid I can't help out there...
