Summary

Unable to revoke the lease of Holy Orders of a foreign religion following an annexation of counties during a Holy War

Description

Playing as the King of Sardinia, I launched a Holy war against the Umayyad Caliphate to gain control over western
Mediterranean. However, once the conquest was over, it was impossible for me to revoke the lease of the cities controlled by muslim Holy orders. I tried to wait a bit because I thought maybe the option was disabled for the mounth following the conquest (as it is with some buildings revenues) but after waiting for over a year it was still impossible.

I then gave the territories to vassals to see if they would be able to revoke it themselves but still nothing happenned.

This has been happenning for quite a while now, I remember it happening in my games all the way back in 2020. Please fix this because on top of being weird from an RP point of view, it's annoying not to get money from cities after conquest.

Steps to reproduce

1 - Decalre holy war against a foreign realm. Usually it happens for large territories that have been under specific religion for a large amount of time. So I recommand using the "Holy war for a kingdom" casus belli in regions that had the time to accumulate leases.
2 - Win the war (This bug doesn't happen if you're a loser :p)
3 - Realise you don't earn any money from the cities in the counties you've just acquired
5 - Sad Pikachu face
6 - You didn't even noticed I skipped step 4

Hi, unfortunately we couldn't reproduce the issue, nor could we find any holy order whose leases would not be revocable. Does the issue still happen after updating the game to 1.9.1 version?

In the file I sent, you can see the city of Almonte and Huelva (County of Sevilla) are still beeing held by a muslim lease, as is the city of Arcos (Algeciras). I will try to recreate the bug once more if you wish but it is in the save I sent you.

Definitely still in my game at least.

The game seems to automatically grant all baronies conquered to random characters of your faith and culture. This includes baronies that are leased to a holy order.

If you click on the barony coat of arms of a barony leased to a holy order you can find the actual character holding the barony title. You can't revoke the barony from them but you can them grant them another county and as it's impossible to hold a barony title from another county this will remove that title from the person and then grant the barony in question to you.

Only then can you revoke the holy order lease.

If you're testing this by directly granting yourself the barony title (via console or any other means) and then seeing if you can revoke then it will work as intended.
But if you conquer a county via a holy war then you'll see the above described behaviour of baronies being automatically granted to same-culture and same-faith characters which prevents revoking the lease.

Hi, I will run into this same issue from time to time as well where there's no option to evict a holy order from a conquered city. The only workaround is to grant a county to the baron holding the city, as mentioned by the OP. This gives ownership of the city barony to you and only then can the holy order be kicked out.
