So there is this columbus cheat. But is there also a cheat which will allow me to uncover only PARTS of my surroundings (without having to edit the 'knownprovinces' in a savegame)? This would sometimes come in handy, because if You´re playing a minor with no conquistadors or explorers and very little knowledge of surroundings, noone will trade maps with You (even not with good diplomatic relations). And so the only way to expand the map would be conquering a neighbours capital, which is not always feasible.

P.S.: In the 'cheats text' there is mentioned an 'explore province under curser' cheat, supposedly activated by 'shift+D'. Is it that? Anyway, it doesn´t seem to work...

I would like to know if Paradox thought of the possible multiplayer consequences when they implemented cheats. Is there an option to turn cheats off for multiplayer, or at the very least notify all players when a cheat is used and who is using it?

Hey Hetman, leader of the Respoczpolita
you really didn't know it. Look into the folders, they're all there.... but don't use them :D

Best regards

I think that the cheats do not suck, only cheating does :). Take the columbus cheat for example. I´m playing Sibir at the moment, a backwater country, which doesn´t have much access to the world. That large portions of the world are terra incognita for me, does mean I cannot send troops, make colonies and even have no diplomacy with nations I do not know off. That´s fine with me. But at the end of a session, I like to know, what has been goin on in the rest of the world in the meantime. I activate the cheat and see e.g. that the Scotch have crushed the English, or that Brandenburg has gathered a nice little empire. To see this is fun and not cheating imho, because if I play on I always turn the cheat off again. (The effect of the Terra incognita is not so much, that You cannot 'see' what´s goin on there, but rather that You cannot move Your troops there, have diplomacy etc.). Now I have the situation, that I have conquered almost all the territories I know of, but noone wants to trade maps with me, simply because they all know about 400 territories unknown to me, whereas I bring them only about 10. I could maybe conquer the Russian capital to get access to their maps, but this would be suicide and is not possible anyway, because I would have to move through 'terra incognita', which I can´t. As Sibir, I also get no conquistadors and explorers. So should I terminate the game?
No: I want to extend my knowledge of the surroundings just a reasonable bit, to be able to play on. I may edit a savegamefile to achieve this, but an appropriate 'cheat' would make this tedious process a little easier for me. So anyone knows one?

Of course Zagys is right, that the cheats should be inaccessible in multiplayer games - I hope this is so.

The cheats cannot be used in multi-player games.

i think that either a cheat to reveal all provinces connected to your current provinces or all provinces connected to currently known areas would be useful here.
I would personally like to see unknown territory being revealed after a few years if you have a colony or city beside it. maybe require the colony to be a particular level (4 maybe). This would simulate gradual knowledge of surrounding territories gleamed through wanderers and traders. This should remove the problem of no available territories.

All cheats are disabled in multiplayer.

solitair: Great idea to expand the map to bordering territories after a certain amount of time! It is a little annoying, that knowledge of surroundings can ONLY be widened by maptrading/stealing and conquistadors/explorers. As noone seems to know a cheat to uncover single provinces, I in the meantime resorted to editing a savegame file. I thereby just increased my knowledge to bordering provinces :)
