I have noticed on this forum that people really want a Rome 2 game but pdx already said that this is not a sequel and that they will never make a Rome 2. yet a lot of people want it and they can't be ignored. my theory (Hope) is that paradox has learned from the ck2 and eu4 not to call a game after a specific region/period cause that will tide their hands and make people complain in the future like: "this game is called ROME why you adding China" etc. It is too late for ck2 or eu4 to change "brand name" but Rome was only a one game (+ expansions) and does not have a "brand" yet. Also, making a game connected to a specific region kills repeatably. For example Sengoku. how many times can you play the same game of uniting japan? once, twice, one hounded hours? how many games can you get from ck2? how many thousands of hours? what makes games like ck2 and eu4 popular is they universality. you want to go on crusade or just burn down Constantinople as a horde leader. discover new world or unite native Americans to fight against Europe. So i hope that this game is basically Rome 2 but under different name and focused more on the ancient world than Rome.

There's a popular theory on the other forum about Augustus being a grand strategy game taking place between the rise of the fertile crescent empires and the fall of the Roman Empire. Someone coined the title "Masters of the ancient world" or something like that.

Empires of Antiquity. Chariots of Conquest. The Rise of Man. Those'd all be decent names.

I would like for this to be Vicky III, but I think it's probably that space game that everybody's so enamoured with (and that I likely won't care about), with Vicky III maybe being the third of their three projects.
