Hi there,

First of all, let me say that I am a HUGE fan of both HOI 1 and 2. Be that as it may, I'm having the devil of a time uninstalling the program.

After loading the Stoney Road mod (which I love), I found that after about six months of game time, HOI2 would go blank and quit back to desktop. Figuring that something had gotten scrambled with the patch, I tried to uninstall the game following the instructions described by Castellon.

Unfortunately, I still can't get the Setup.exe to recognize that HOI2 is gone. I've looked for every registry key I can think of and deleted every related directory I could find.

My machine is running XP Pro. I've played the core game for hours with no problems whatsoever.

Any suggestions you might have would be most appreciated.

Thanks!

Gerhard

Sounds like you may have two installs, or a Modir problem, I would also check with the makers of the mods you had, to ask thier uninstall instructions. No idea what changes they make to your system and registry.

Concur...sounds like you have multiple registry entries all right.
It's a poorly conceived way to uninstall, but what the heck...

First you only need the manual uninstal if you mess something up with the automatic one that comes with the game. ;)

Second he states in his post that he has read and followed that thread.

Yep. I started with the Automatic Uninstall. Still didn't let me install a fresh version of HOI2, so I went to the Forums and found Castellon's article.

Ah, well...

I'll just keep hammering away at my registry until something gives.

Thanks for the prompt replies fellas.

Cheers,

Gerhard

When a scalpel won't do...

try a chainsaw!

I went back into my C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information directory and deleted any folders which did NOT have a setup.exe or setup.ini file. In other words, anything which looked like an incomplete Uninstall directory.

Well, one of those must have been the MOD remanents. I can now install a fresh HOI2.

Hope this helps someone else struggling with uninstalls.

Cheers!

Gerhard
