Historically the WWII Armys were not only different when it came to doctrines but also equipment. I was wondering if it is possible to have different values for the "same" unit of each country. So for example a Tiger tank would be costly, relatively slow but on the other hand superior in firepower and armour compared to other tanks.

I was thinking that if this is possible we could write events who give the player the choice to upgrade his units like it was historically done via the "Ausführung A-..." or even the option if his preference is Speed, Firepower or Armour.

This would implement the many options of improvements we had in HOI.
An event could look like:


Armour Skirts:

Yes (+3 days +0.2 IC +2 Def)
No.
 
I dont think its possible to have nation specific unit stats short of editing the save games. You would have to be completely insane to do that, even though it technically would solve your problem :). Or you could just make battle scenarios in which you edit the finite number of divisions in play to have different stats based on nation...?
 
Well, there are some interesting websites out there who give you detailled informations about how tanks improved over time. If it would be possible to have different unit stats I would even try to find some statistic material about the toughness of the different tanks/units. There is for example the free!! game Steel Panthers that might be useful to determine such stats.

Those events should pop up rather at historical dates and as a series of events.

But first the question is if and how much unit stats are moddeable...
 
Well you have to give a try to HSR then, we are currently considering country specific attributes there some at the divisional level but most importantly at the 'brigade' attachment level.

If you play for example Steel Panthers fighting a Tiger tank is really a challenge.
On the other hand Germany did not produce too many of them compared to the SU or US and their output. In game terms a german HT brigade should probably add more stats but be more costly then a russian one, same for the Panther probably. Posted about it in the stony forum.

Ok, I see where you want to go now. Of course that can be modded as we did with the hard divisions. Please state your preferences of cost and combat values, here or in the stony forum and we will work from there. I will be away in April so hurry :)
 
Yes, I posted in the stony forum but it seems that this feature is not given a too high priority/acceptance by most. I will do some "research" on the issue and maybe we can come back on the issue later - when also the new patches are out, maybe something changes. Think that actually I rather work on my HSR AAR which includes also some kind of beta testing. I probably have already found a few minor issues with the new release so this will in the short run help to improve HSR a bit more then adding/balancing a complex new feature.
