Ive started noticing that armored units will face their front armor towards threats (as they should), but even do so when they dont actually know the threat is there.

Example, I snuck up a Panzershreck team for a side hit on a Croc. They were not detected, but as soon as they were in range, the croc auto faced directly at them.

This happens at range as well, with tanks facing their front armor to at guns that are in range, but have not fired/revealed themselves.

And I can assure you, its not that they were detected, and the croc, for example, was on hold fire. As in my croc example a seperate team that accidentally WAS revealed was immediately engaged by said tank.

If i moved the panzershreck team back to the other side of the hedgerow, the tank would then return it facing towards an additional at gun I had that was also hidden and on hold fire.

It is a know "issue" since long ago and with some experience you can exploit it to track some enemy movement.
It does also cause problem with units rotating hull or turrets in undesired directions.

I read about this in an other thread, maybe in the steam discussions. It´s a bit annoying since it doesn´t make any sense that a tank turns into a direction where he can´t actually see any danger coming.
Sometimes a tank turns away to an enemy that is no threat atm because of line of sight while he exposes himself to a real danger from an other direction that is maybe more far away than the other unit but can actually hit him because line of sight. Saw a video where this happened but I´m not sure if the tank was aware of the pak that was further away then the sneaking up tank behind the woods. But it´s a pain to re-face your tank over and over again in the direction of a potential threat while he still wants to face the tank behind the woods on his side.
If it´s no major work it should get fixed soon imo.
