I have sampled this game and do find it entertaining. I have not played very far into it and was very discouraged to find out that the game has an end date. I find no appeal in struggling with a small nation, watching it hopefully grow and maneuvering politically with my neighbors, only to have the game end before I have the chance to bring the known world under my rule. Is there currently no viable way to stave off the end of the game via time expiring? I do not know when the game ends, just knowing that it will at some point abruptly end is such a huge turn off.

Well while typing this up the itch to play again is growing. I have a few days off and would not mind giving it another try. What is the auto end date?

Appreciate any help with the exact end date and certainly any help in finding a way to prolong or suspend the end date end game.

The scripted end date is 727 AVC/AUC. It's controlled by a file called defines.txt. (found in the 'common' folder of the game directory.) It can be changed there.

Yep, you can change it in the defines.txt file, but only if you're using the latest beta patch.

A word of warning, though: due to the huge number of characters (and the game's sub-optimal coding, compared to games like CK2), it will get very unstable as you get closer to the end date and savegame files will be huge. You can get a tool that will cut down your savegame files and will make the late game significantly more playable. I continued well into the first century AD in my last campaign without issue :)
