Unnamed Infant

All of a sudden all the girls being born in my court are being named Unnamed Infant, the boys seem fine. Anybody else have this problem and does anyone know how I can fix it? I don't know what will happen if I reload the game though, so don't ask what happened when I did, because I didn't.
I'll do that when I get back home today.

Your db/character_names.csv file is probably corrupt: this one assignes the names (based on culture+gender). Restore it from the patch.
Any already unnamed infants will have to be renamed in the savegame.

What character names file is on the patch? The original list or an extended list?

I'll get back 'OT' now, so you don't need to consider me bad like last time (if ever in the first place did you).

I haven't had an 'Unnamed Infant' born in my court since the first two occurances, but I did reinstall and patch to .05 after work yesterday too. But, an 'Unnamed Infant' male, 36 years old in the year 1080, did randomly come into my court from some far off land. I suppose my question now is to just quench my curiousity: Why does the game assign the name 'Unnamed Infant' at all? Pretty please answer my question. Thatty thank you in advanced.

'Unnamed Infant' is the name given to a child if there is no entry in character_names.csv for culture+gender.
If for example you somehow get the 'norse' culture in your game and have a male child, the game will check character_names.csv for norse;male entries and find none. Since every character must have a name 'Unnamed Infant' is chosen. The same would go for any other unused culture (such as 'iberian', 'Byzantine', or 'none').

The only time I had this happen was when I changed events to give the Knight Order cultures to their provinces: since there are no name lists for 'teutonic', 'templar' or 'hospitaler' all newlt generated characters there were 'Unnamed Infants'.

If you are running an unmodded game and have patched correctly you should never see this happen.

Well, I'm not going to call you a liar, but I have no mods and I'm exceptionally certain my patch was installed correctly. But I don't know the guys culture. I'll check it out. But two days ago, I know the culture of the girls being born were danish. I checked out the character_names file at the time and it had nothing I could see that could be considered corruption. All semi-colons were in place and well, it just looked right to me, ok? gosh.. Anyway, just want to say thanks.

You see the thing is we know that if a thread has a last post from either jpd or myself, then the problem is solved or we are waiting for further input from the member, so everytime you post one of us has to post, so rather than make some spam comment, we just use fp if no comments are necessary.
But this is all Off Topic (OT) for this forum and we are pretty strict about OT comments in this forum as it is for serious dicussion by those having a problem.
So I will close this thread now.
