Greetings! I've recently gotten into your fine game of Magick and found it to be hilarious and quite enjoyable! After beating the main campaign, but before buying the DLC package, I took to fooling around in Challenge Mode a bit. Browsing the web as I do, I found that you could actually alter Challenge Mode a little -- switching out maps for other maps, changing entire waves of enemies, adding bosses (not suggested), and so-forth. After some extensive testing, I eventually came up with a big list of all the available critters you could plunk into Challenge Mode and/or custom Campaign maps. However, after a while, I started to notice some oddities in the character list:
- Some of the enemies you fight in Campaign Mode completely lack obituaries ("Disciple +2,200", "Orc Captain +2,000", etc.).
- Some of the enemies -- mostly the ones you're not supposed to fight -- lacked or took points away from you!
- And of course, some of the enemies also had very basic AI routines -- the more outstanding ones being the unused (in Challenge Mode) Wizard models, particularly the ones with ranged attacks (Reservoir, Space, Tentacle, Tron, and Vietnam).
Now I know that there's always deadlines to meet and plans which may not come to fruition, but I can't help but wonder why a lot of very useful mobs and NPCs were left unfinished. These things in and of themselves make for good Easter Eggs for people like me who love poking around, but it would be even cooler if they worked properly. Granted that it's funny to be assaulted by Purple Tentacle Wizard point-blank because he has no attack coding, or have the King of Havindr blindly follow you around and never actually harm you, but still.
Getting to the point, I'd like to know if there are any plans to finish or fix any of the existing mobs so they can be better utilized in Challenge Mode. I'd love to see the Angry Mob Participants actually attack players that aren't right on top of them or see a number of mobs actually have a proper obituary name. For example, "Ghost", "Beast Chieftain", or "Baby Spider" instead of "NOT FOUND [hex address]".
I'd also love to see some of the mobs currently worth 0 points either way have a proper point value. Once again, Jotunn the Beastman Chieftain comes to mind, but fully-armored Dwarf Warriors and Captains also give 0 points on-death, as do Elementals of all kinds (Including dormant Elementals, which spawn with flame swords and attack only themselves. Very bizarre!) and the unused Wizard version of Death. Incidentally, the mobs with negative point values are probably just fine as they are, since it's just funny. Though I do notice the counter tends to freak out when displaying negative values. (It uses punctuation marks such as "(" or "#" instead of numbers, though it always marks the beginning of all negative values with a minus sign, and each punctuation mark is a cypher for a number.)
Anyway, that's just some of my thoughts on the unused and unfinished mobs. Thanks for reading!
