I had to reimage my hard drive, when I reinstalled HOI, first thing I did afterwards was get the patches. The message I get now is

The update couldn't be installed because the game couldn't be found.

Game is installed, where the CD installed it, not hided in a special folder, and CD is in the drive. Any ideas how to get the patches applied? I have tried letting the site install the patches and tried saving the patches to disk, same thing.

Any one have an idea on what to do?
 
Uninstall then reinstall the game.
If you just copied the folders and did not do a new install the game would not have made a registry entry. Therefore the patch would not know it was installed.
 
It was a clean install from disk. Nothing was copied from folder to folder, the entire hard drive had to be whiped out and done from scratch. Had backup's of the data but not the programs themselves. Started out with Windows XP, down loaded all the updates, etc...right on down the line until I got to HOI. When i went for the patches it could not find the program. I unistalled the game, reinstalled the game and same thing. I am at a loss as i have never seen anything like this.
 
Did you install to the C drive and the default directory?
What patch version are you trying to install?
 
Yes, installed to the C drive and the default directory.
First I tried patch version 1.04, when that did not work I tried v1.03 afterwards tried starting from the beginning with version 1.01. Get the same message everytime: "The update couldn't be installed because the game couldn't be found."
 
YOu have not modded the game or edited any of the files?
Uninstall and then reinstall the game.

What publisher is your game? Patches before 1.06 are different for each publisher and may not see the game if it is the wrong publisher. Have you tried patch 1.06 or 1.06c?
 
I assume he tried those first.

How did the reinstall go?
 
Sorry I dropped off on this, it has been crazy at work this week. Publisher is Pan Vision I am surprised that this would make a difference. The only place I have ever gotten my patches is this site and I only see v1.04 listed.
 
OK i tried patch v1.06c and it worked like a charm. Someone might want to put that in the downloadable files section. I never tried 1.06c b/c i did not see it. My fault for not opening my eye a little wider.

Interesting though that 1.04 did not work and both came from the same site.

The patch 1.04 you downloaded was probably for a different publisher. 1.06 and 1.06c work with any publisher's version. Where did you download from? Paradox has 1.05, 1.06, and 1.06c (and 1.03 Snowball) available but not 1.04.

I don't even see 1.04 listed for download anywhere.

Where are you seeing this, not in the thread I maintain stickied at the top of this forum and not on the paradox download page. Are you sure you were not trying to use the 1.04 Ck patch?
 
Paradox has nothing to do with that website, so we really have no control over what patches they have available for download, or if those patches contain viruses, or are compatible for your version.
It says they are for the SF version, ince there were over a dozen publishers for HOI, those only have a 1 in 12 chance of being the right patch for your version. Always best to stick to official sites for patches when available.

Interesting, b/c that site leads me straight to this forum. I thougtht they were one and the same.

Anyone can put any link to any site they want.
Always make sure you know what site you are on.
