Upscaled issue in Linux?

Hello, so I recently installed Ubuntu 17.10 on my laptop, and every time I run Crusader Kings ( or any other Paradox grand strategy) the screen seems to be rendering at a very low resolution. Attached are a screenshot of the game, my system information, and a screenshot of 0ad running fine, which makes me think it's a ck2 problem and not a computer one.

to me it looks like 1920x1080. How is that a very low resolution or do i misunderstand ?
Don't see any difference to my screen on Win7.
What does the Video tab in game options say ?

I too am not seeing the start screen as being low res. Can you clarify what it is that concerns you there? What about within the game itself?

Please attach your Documents/Paradox/CK2/settings.txt.
From your Documents/Paradox/CK2/logs/ folder, attach system.log .

Also in Steam please click on Steam-Help-System Info, and paste everything there into a text file and attach that here.
