((Well you could always resist))

"Ok" ((I will hand it over))

((It's actually too late for Penn at this point.))

Claud, in his charmed state, gives over the Crystal to his dearest buddy, Penn. Penn now has the Crystal of Absorption. Although Penn feels the incredible power in his hand, he doesn't receive a vision, or go into a trance. To him, it is only a powerful artifact. The voice again talks to Penn, and in a demanding voice, it says...

"Run!"

"Goodbye lads! It was nice knowin' all 'o ye!"
Penn runs

((What an anticlimactic ending))

((I know! It's so anticlimactic! That's the way the dice rolled, though!))

"Goodbye lads! It was nice knowin' all 'o ye!"
Penn runs

Penn bids adeu to everyone else, and runs off. "Wait, wait!" The Baron yells. "You fucking Fleshweaver! Get back here! That Crystal belongs to my master!" Alas, the Baron is powerless to actually stop him at this time. The Baron screams in anger as the fire from his eyes and his hands grows brighter and larger. He turns his anger onto everyone else.

Claud did not snap out of his Charmed state and stood and fought, but in the end...

... The Baron and Marcia slaughtered everyone. The Enclave is now a bloody field filled with Corpses of all kinds. The Baron simply shakes his head and yells at Marcia "Come. I must report my failure back to our master..."

With that, the Campaign is over. ((Epilogues are to follow))

EPILOGUE: Thaepher Mondcyn
18jxqi5.png

Thaepher Mondcyn sits silently at Madame Marie's, drinking his last drink next to a sobbing Snitch McGitch. Thaepher hid out in the dense mountainy woods of the Gnomish Mountains before eventually coming back. All he saw was a bunch of dead, mutilated, burnt bodies and a whole lot of blood, though he saw that Marcia, Elunir's Unicorn and Penn got out. Maybe one day he will see them again?

Eventually, he returned back to the town of Hy, to the bar where it all started. He saw the old man and Cain's friend from before, and unfortunately Thaepher had to tell him the bad news. Old Snitch told Thaepher about how Cain was like the son he never had, and that having Cain is his life made him feel better after surviving the massacre of Silverflats. Snitch doesn't know what to do with his life now, and Thaepher doesn't know how to comfort him.

Thaepher finishes his drink, pays his tab, and leaves. His quest to find the cure for his poor Wife is never ending. Hopefully one of the Tomes he found can help him get a cure? If not... There was always tomorrow... ((Canadian_RTS, If you have any final words you want your character to say for this campaign, now's the time.))

Turns out Thaepher was the smart one after all, huh :p

I really liked this game and I'll definitely be joining the next one. Can we expect UR4 soon?

As for some unwarranted advice, I think the game would be a lot more fun if the mid-game was a bit more fleshed out. The tavern scene seemed really fun, as was the final boss fight. But we were kinda dropped from the easiest fight in the game into the second-hardest, into the final boss fight. Some more quest elements in between could have really added to the game, possibly even some choices for the group. For example, the Fleshweavers could have approached us, triggering a choice for the group to either go with them or stay with the Baron. Both quest lines could lead to the crystal from there on, but with variations.

Also, I don't think that mind control, rivalry and anti-party mechanics are a good idea for future games. This format just isn't set up for PvP, unfortunately.

((I plan to do Sign Ups for the Next URealms Campaign as soon as possible. I'm aiming for next weekend to be sign up weekend. :)

As for your advice, I had kind of tried a diverging path for the characters in the last campaign, but then other players complained that it was too open ended and that they didn't want to play. It seems like the more straightforward campaigns at least end. For the next campaign, I definitely will have more RP elements while still having a more linear story, and the Battles will be more of a solid progression instead of just "Easy, Easiest, Hard, Medium, Hardest" fight progression here. Also, Anti-Party Mechanics are sort of a staple to URealms, but I do know I need to keep tweaking the game for Forums, so I'll think of some way to make Anti-Party mechanics work better here.))

((Perhaps Isengrim's skull survived? Good game, I did not mind the final fight. ))

((Nah, man, that whole scene was a bloodbath. The only reason I'm not going into detail is because I want to keep some Secrets for the next time you guys fight a Dread Knight. I'm glad you enjoyed the game, though I won't be pulling a "A difficult to the point of improbable" Boss Fight for sometime until I have a cool Boss Mechanic for it. Next campaign definitely won't be this hard.))

Meh. It was pretty fun I guess. But feeling pretty useless in the final boss fight wasn't a fun feeling.

Yeah, I saw that. Having the party stick together is important, I'd suggest leaving any choices up to a majority of "votes" and enforcing that choice on the entire group. Yay democracy? :p Alternatively, in my previous example you could let only Penn decide who the rest of the group would progress with by giving him the choice to either share his "insights" or not. Knowing about the Fleshweavers would then trigger the Baron to leave.

Next campaign definitely won't be this hard.

Difficulty was fine, actually. I mean, the Baron was unusual, but if both he and Claud would be nerfed equally, it would have been a fair fight.

Oh. Well that was fun. Great campaign! Thank you for hosting another URealms, Dingo! I'll be back for the next one.

Sorry Luft- my character is actually a power-hungry egotist- seeing the Baron's powers, she would have wanted to s. And you are right I am a D&D player through and through- I played the character seriously. This is why Chaotic-Evil characters are no fun to play with(as my D&D character alignment would have put me as). Before I turned anti-party, she was an evil douche to the bartender, Sus and others. She was freaking sitting calmly when she nonchallantly went to murder the bartender so she could get booze and money. She has probably murdered people for fun- she is a freaking physcopath. I didn't turn in order to spite the you and the party. It's called character.

((I agree. Wrestler needs to be buffed, badly. I'll think of something fun for them next campaign. I've also got to balance a lot of ideas I have for the next weeks Classes.))

((Excellent! But also, Marcia's story's not done yet. I hope you can stick around for Marcia's Epilogue. :) ))

I understand that but when you play Urealms you have to be on a meta level a team otherwise it's impossible

Actually, Dingo, what's your view on this? It seems a bit conflicting to meta as a team yet convincingly play anti-party at times. I haven't a clue how this is handled in the youtube campaigns, to be honest.

((Personally, I thought Ironhide did great Anti-Party. Yes, the meta for most campaigns is that you are indeed supposed to play as a team, but there have been a few times were players and NPC's actively went Anti-Party for a variety of reasons (mainly for their own skin). I understand that less experienced RPers would have a hard time playing against the team when the meta of the game is to be on a team, but it does happen, and for the most part, Ironhide's character made sense meta wise: She was in it for money and power, she saw the Baron had amazing power, she switched sides to the Baron the minute it happened. I think my only problem with Ironhide's character was that it was focused on Minmaxing, which I feel is a common problem in online RPG's, but that's one that URealms tends to discourage, although I haven't been hard on Minmaxing myself. Other then that, if a person intends to be Anti-Party at any point in a campaign for whatever reason, URealms, while not encouraging it, doesn't discourage it either, and Ironhide and Corman did great.))
