I was wondering if anyone has considered alternate election events for the United States during this game? Depending upon the start date, we could include the election of 1912 between Taft, Roosevelt and Wilson.

1916 could see:

Historical:
Wilson-Hughes

AH 1 (TR's victory leads to a stronger Progressive Party, and a weakend Democratic and Republican Party):
Hiriam Johnson(TR's VP) - Issac Stevenson(Republican) - ? (Democrat).. Fitzgerald perhaps?

AH2 (Taft defeats everyone.....stop laughing :p)
La Follette(Rep.) - George McLellan Jr(Dem. Sorry for butchering the last name. Junior was one of those great political What If's. He ended up losing his raise for the position of New York mayor but, had things worked out differantly.....)

And you get tons of depatures from this point forward, but you get the general idea.

Just for further note, the thread should properly be in the US events thread.

The start date has been decided upon as January 1914, with it possibly moving to May (or something closer the actual war date) if beta testing shows a need for a shorter time start.

However if your willing, you could write an event for the US that begins at the start date that lets them choose who won in 1912. Changing the US leadership, its alignment towards the certain allicances, etc. (It could be very interesting to see this)

These are possible events for the US election in 1916. If you want to write them, feel free, they would makeinteresting events. However if you do so make sure you research who might fill the cabinet positions, and how it would shift their relations to the alliances, economic policy (whether they would have supported arms sales or not, etc.), etc.

I don't want to sound like a stick in the mud, but my take on this is that each country should have the government that they actually had on 1st January, 1914, and that players and the AI should progress through the game with whatever government they find themselves with.

If one were to speculate over which president the United States could have had, whether it be Taft, Teddy Roosevelt or Wilson, it leaves open questions as to how different other countries' policy might have been. For example, would British policy have been different with Bonar Law or Balfour as Prime Minister?

I would Love to see TR elected in 1916, that should Probably boost US War entry to 100 no matter what its current level.

Knowing old Teddy, he probably wouldve taken command of the AEF himself.:D

come to think of it.....
