Hi guys

My game was working great for ~50hrs of game play until the patch update to 1.05 and ever since then (unsure if correlation or causation). Since then i've been CTD about 5-10 seconds after loading into the main menu of the game (not the launcher). I noticed also that the continue and load save button were greyed out (when I did have save games).

I have tried:
Verifying game files
Uninstalling & reinstalling (including full-clean through deleting the documents & steamapps folders)
Rolling the patch version back to 1.03

All of my Nvidea drivers & Windows updates are up to date. I don't have any mods installed.

Logs are as attached.

Thanks in advance. I love the game and would love to get back to it!

Please do a full clean re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-Vic3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Vic3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/Vic3 folders
In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Vic3 or Documents Vic3 locations, before installing again.
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add Victoria3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.

THEN Right click on victoria3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, refresh rate 60.

If those don't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Vic3/pdx_settings.json .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Vic3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log , exceptions.log

No joy unfortunately

pdx_settings.json file isn't able to be uploaded to here due to limited file extensions
error.log file is empty
Can't find an exceptions.log file (and the Documents\Paradox Interactive\Victoria 3\exceptions file is empty)

Make sure victoria3.exe is in all exceptions lists for you antivirus app.

That aside, I think you're saying you rolled back to game versions that used to work, but they now crash - is that right?

Go into the nVidia control panel - manage 3D settings. Force victoria3.exe onto the "integrated Intel" option there, as a test - does it now launch?

Added to all anti-virus exceptions. Yes, it started doing this following the 1.05 update. After doing a verify and clean install I then tried rolling it back using the steam beta to 1.03 and it has the same problem.

Did the nVidia thing. Same exact result and the exception.txt files are identical.

Edit:
I tried disabling steam cloud saves as suggested in the

Victoria III - Victoria 3 - Constant CTDs - Unhandled exception

(forum not liking me copying out the url for some reason.

And it seems to have solved the issue! I guess i'll lose all my steam cloud saves which isn't great but at least I get to play with local saves (hopefully). Hopefully the team can have a look into it and see if anything changes as of 1.05.

Hard to see why that change would help that problem, to be honest.

In any case, you can see and get your Steam cloud saves here:
