Gamalsemlan, that device is an ADSL modem, router *and* firewall. It also has a switch.

Try open your web browser and set as the address:
http://192.168.1.1

That seems to be the address XAVi uses at least for its other routers. I am stull unable to find anything spesifically for your modem :(

If it all goes well, you should now be asked for login and password. The default XAVi login is root, and the default password is also root. However, if that does not work, try to login as admin (password admin).

just says the modem can connect four computers to the internet, and that is possible only if the modem also is a router.

Not necessarily, easy enough to have 4 different IP addresses running through the same switch+modem, routing is only needed for NAT, etc. Although I suspect that is not the case here.

According to the ISP my modem now aparantly has a router in it, though that it is shut down
  it's funny how ISPs cover their backs

My guess then, is that the ISP's DSLAM itself has those ports blocked  and they won't tell you that...

I think you should do what Daniel suggested. Get a new modem, or at least borrow one to see if that helps. OTOH, if your ISP has blocked the Valkyrienet channel, then you are pretty much in a hopless situation with the current ISP :(
