Ok, so today i tried a few new mods, which all had to do with more game colors, flags emblems and the like. It turned out that one of them affected my installation in a way that Stellaris now crashes to desktop, as soon as i edit a race and click on the "customize flag" section. I tried to unsubscribe one mod after the other, but could not find a solution. Even after unsubscribing all the mods, even the blorg one, the game keeps crashing. I tried to verify the game cash with steam, it didnt find any errors, still crashes to desktop. So now what - uninstall and install all over again? Does anyone have a better solution for me because downloading the game again takes a few hours with my slowish internet connection.

delete stealris from steam and form comon folder same thing delete stelaris folder from paradox folder in in my docs espiacly mods sub folder are mods stored in this folder.

Ok, so i redownloaded and reinstalled Stellaris. Oddly enough, my previously created races were still present. As was the crash to desktop. Now comeon, not even with a fresh install i can get this crap to work again?

Did you delete the folder in your documents? Paradox games put a folder in My documents for all their games that usually store client side stuff like what you just said remained. It will also probably still hold mod stuff also and is not removed when you remove the core game in steam.

Thanks for the pointer, that would - i guess - have spared me the reinstallation if i had looked there ealier. I deleted these folders and oddly enough the game is meanwhile running with just the same mods that made it crash before. Must have been their order of subscription or sumsuch.
