  • Europa Universalis: Rome
  • Warlock: Master of the Arcane
Hi All,

I installed EU:Rome and it seems to run fine.

Then I installed VV.

Now when I run EU:Rome it begins loading and then crashes, flashes a super brief blue screen, and then reboots the pc.

Both EU:Rome and VV were bought and downloaded from Gamersgate

I tried installing the EU:Rome 1.3 patch and it did not fix the problem. Nor did the VV 2.1

I have Direct X 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) and I just upgraded my video card drivers
(GeForce 9500 GT)

Any ideas on how I might fix this problem?

Thanks,
Dave

Thanks, Andrew.
Unfortunately the fix you suggested didn't work. And I did not buy it from Steam. I bought it from Gamer's Gate.

This is the error code from the event log:

Error code 10000050, parameter1 fffffdbc, parameter2 00000000, parameter3 80526653, parameter4 00000000.

Hmm, well installing the 1.3 Rome patch over VV has probably caused new problems, although that's obviously not to blame for the original issue. Let's try a complete reinstall:

First move any valued save games elsewhere. Then uninstall both games, and then manually delete the game directory - this is important. Reinstall Rome - it's best to choose a new directory like c:\games\rome instead of the suggested path. Then download and install VV from Gamers Gate, and make 100% sure you point it to the same path the game installed into (eg c:\games\rome or whatever you used above) Then apply the 2.1 patch over Rome and VV, again in that same new directory.

My Error Codes

Thanks for taking the time to try to help me with this, Andrew. I tried what you suggested. I installed Rome in a new folder. I did not give it the 3.1 patch. Then I installed VV and gave it the 2.1 patch (downloaded from Gamer's Gate where I bought the game). It did the same thing. When I ran the game, it began loading. It got to the second picture in the 3 picture sequence. Then, right around the point where it said, "Loading Graphics", it bluescreened and rebooted. When XP came up again, it gave me a message saying that it had experienced a serious error:

C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER37d3.dir00\Mini032009-02.dmp
C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER37d3.dir00\sysdata.xml

I am concerned that I might be damaging my computer by letting it blue screen and reboot itself. Maybe I should just enjoy Rome without VV. At least Rome works by itself.

Again, thank you for trying to help.

Dave

Well I can only guess you have a bad copy of VV. Maybe delete it and download a fresh copy.
