I tried posting on the Multiplayer forum board and I didn't get any answers. Maybe I can get your attention Viper ?

When I connect to Valkyrie.net. It's all A-OK. Till they tell me to log in a channel. I chose a channel out of the 3 available and then it says CHANGING CHANNEL and nothing happens. I don't know if usually you log into the channel, but for my part, nothing happens. So I tried changing channels and there is 3 possibilities :

1) My computer CTD
2) My computer freezes and I gotta reboot it
3) I get disconnected

I have a Videotron Cable connetion, 700 MGZ Celeron and enough RAMS for the game to not lag in the 1419 GC. Windows 98... huh that's all I can think of.

Attention, you got.
Answer, you do not :D

I have absolutely no idea about Valkyrie.net, so if you can demonstrate a little bit patience (let's say a few hours?), I will try it once I get back home and I will see how things works with my beta copy.

Vnet is still in beta stage and isn't ready for prime time, unfortunately, that I know of. They need to add a few more servers and tweak the system. For the rest, I will check, I will enquire, and I will come back with a possible answer :)

thanks !

Ok thanks ! :)

in case someone lurking here would like to know, Niptium has solved his problem. You need to wait until ALL the channels have been listed before changing it, otherwise, it seems to provoke a crash.

OK, I was going to suggest disabling any firewall and AV apps on his PC. Zonealarm caused MP to hang the PC on me.

I would have suggested the same, but upon logging on Valkyrie, guess who I found? :D

It worked for me, with ZoneAlarm loaded, however, it causes problem with other softwares from time to time.

Hi -

I tried what Viper37 said but I still get disconnected :( I log on, wait for the channels to be listed, when it tell me to choose one, I select one (EU2_War2 or EU2_War3), and then it disconnects me...

I am on a T1 line, no firewalls...

try the latest drivers for your lan card. Check if there is a firmware upgrage for it while you're on the site.

I doubt it. I live in Quebec and I am able to connect to Valkyrie.net. However, I have never really played a MP game, so I wouldn't know. I just did some tests to see if I could connect. Even if there was some lag because of the trans-atlantic travel, a T1 line should be sufficient to still play at a decent speed. AFAIK, the minimum requirements are a 56k modem and the recommended setting is 512kbps. A T1 should be faster than that, 'cause if it isn't, you've got a problem ;) :D

It's the disconnecting part that I don't understand... Is it doing that every single time you try to play? If so, try to change your network card if you can.

Try to connect at different time (day, night, afternoon, week-ends). Possibly, everyone is trying to play at 8:00PM and too much connections occur for the server. They still have some upgrade to do to Valkyrie.net, so it could be it.

Something to consider, but this is the only program I am having difficulties with, though.

Thanks for your concern...

One user had problems with his game (nothing like you though) and he solved his problem by changing the network card.

If you have more than one machine, just try swapping the network cards.

Again, before you do that, try at times when everybody should be sleeping ;) or wait a week or two.

For what it's worth...

I purchased two copies of EUII for use inside my home wireless network. One machine just matches the bare minimum required to run EUII, the other machine is much closer to "cutting edge" then "boat anchor".

When connecting to valkeryie.net, my "boat anchor" connects immediatly and with no trouble. But my "cutting edge" experiences all the problems listed above (CTD, hangs, etc.).

I tried to pin down what was causing the problem. I noticed that one difference between the two machines was in the network settings. "Cutting edge" was running Novell NetWare Client services in addition to Client for Microsoft Networks. "Boat anchor" was only running Client for Microsoft Networks.

I disabled the NetWare Client and, so far, my problem has been fixed. I'm not entirely convinced this is my problem or that my fix is going to continue to work, but I offer it to the community and welcome any feedback.

Thanks.

that could be it... Depending on who you talk to, multiple network protocols are either good or bad... On my machine I don't have the netware client and on most machines it is not installed.

Yozhik: try to have only Netbeui (if it is present and if you need it of course) and TCP/IP as network protocols.

Thanks for the suggestion Mnrunner :)

This is precisely the problem I am getting. I select a channel then a message comes up "you have been disconnected". No further explanation. I'd like to know what triggers that messages, ie under what conditions VKN issues it.

I'm on a full-blown cable connection. I happens whether I disable ZoneAlarm or not.

Andrew, have you tried mnrunner suggestion?
