Does the Edict of Tolerance change any aspect of the vassalization process?. I mean, one of the conditions to offer a vassalization is to have the same religion. Christian religions after the EoT are considered the same or not? so, for example, a protestant country can become vassal of a catholic one?.

At least, I noticed that royal marriages can be arranged.

You're right that ToT changes vassalization, cuz one of the prerequisites is royal marriage and you can have them again between Prot/Cath/Reformed after ToT.

Yep. At least in theory, but they will still hate each other. Cost a lot of ducats to bring it off.

In the lategame though people tend to swim in money anyway.

That's pretty hard work, unless you melt it down... trying to swim through a heap of coins puts a lot of strain on the muscles. Then again, if you melt it down, then as soon as you dive in it will kill you :D

It has been my experience though that diploannexation gets harder and harder to pull off later in teh game.... I've rarely succeeded past 1600, or maybe my EU skills just suck. Try for before or slightly after Reformation.

Edit: Spelling & Grammar

Or maybe your monarch's skills suck. Some countries see nothing but crappy kings after 1600.

Nah, it's definitiley crap game playing skills. I've diplo-annexed Sweden as Portugal after 1650. Basically the trick seems to be simple. If they can see loads of your armies on the border (or in their country) they'll be more likely to accept vassal status or annexation. If they have large armies they'll be less likely. So far it's worked for me in my current game with Genoa, Lorraine and Cologne but Naples who are always at war and have 100k troops refused annexation.

Bear in mind this could all be complete bullshit and my planned diplo-annexation of all the minor nations in Germany and Italy may come to nought. It just seems to work as a tactic.;)
