Summary

Veils and headwear getting stuck on female characters with no way to remove them

Description

On both the player and other (so far only female) characters, sometimes, veils will spawn with no way to remove them. Sometimes, they are the veils that appear under crowns, so they don't show up in the barbershop headwear options, sometimes, they're listed as the given headwear, butchanging to no headwear does not remove them. Picking a different hat or veil just makes them glitch through each other. Sometimes children will be born with these veils perma-attached from birth. In one game while travelling through the continent, my player character randomly spawned an impossible to remove hat. This happens on both landed and adventurer characters.

Steps to reproduce

This appeared in both the games I started up, both starting as an adventurer custom female. It doesn't seem to be triggered by any specific action.

Game Version

1.13.0.1

Platform

Windows

I'm having the same problem playing on my brother's game. It's updated to the current version, no mods. I was able to deal with it temporarily by deleting every female value in the additive_headgear section under Crusader Kings III->game->common->genes->06_genes_special_accessories_headgear. This is not a fix, however, as it disables achievements.

Have you managed to find a fix for this yet? I'm having the same issues with the veil. if you set it to no headwear it remains but now says no headwear in barbershop when you save then re-enter or if you set to a different item, that item will clip through the veil and if you save and re-enter barbershop headwear will be back on veil with the new headgear still clipped through. I've posted about this on every changelog since basileus came out and filed a bug report but the problem still remains as of 1.13.1 update that's just dropped with a lot of bugfixes but unfortunately this isn't one of them.

Unfortunately its not the clipping thats the problem, its that the veil is unable to be removed at all so therefor just clips through the other headwear.

your mod works in the sense that it removes the veil with helmets, but the veil still clips through other headgear like circlets, crowns etc and still cannot be removed. whatever you did to remove the veil for the helmets, if you could expand upon this and make it so you could remove the veil completely that would certainly get two thumbs up from me but in its current state unless I want to switch to a helmet it doesn't really address the issue we need it to.

However given your the first and only person I've personally seen to have come close to addressing this issue or responding to my posts i do thankyou.

I only done it for helmets cause it's the more annoying imo. I could fix it for all headgear but it takes time and it's the work of paradox to do it. I mainly do mods for myself 1st and share it for people who have also interrest in them.

The issue is that veils are by definition headgears but are used as additive headgears in portrait_modifiers groups.

I don't know if it's an hardcoded bug or intentional. But when you use additive_headgear accessories in group they can still be active with others group that doesn't have additive_headgear if the character can use both group, that's why you can't remove it, it is and headgear but is forced as an additive headgear.

To fix it you need to specify like in my mod, for each headgear that can be used by female western culture if the veil need to be shown of not

The barbershop used to have a tab for additive headgears called "Headgear 02" but for some reason they removed it... What a downgrade in 1.13

Without it there's no way to remove veils (or add veils with another headgear for that matter for a veil+crown combination)

That barbershop tab is still there, it is the face items tab. It just looks like the "clip free"/"under crowns" veils have been removed from that and attached to the characters some other way, making them unremovable.

I believe there was another tab called "Headgear 02" along with "Face Items", they both existed before, the latter for spectacles, wreaths, crests, masks, etc... and the other for veils but for some reason the devs decided to remove it entirely.

I've updated my mod, now it fix all clipping with veil, not only helmet

Appreciate the effort ourg, can confirm mod removes veil for a large number of headwear, still remains on quite a few crowns and circlets and a few others. and no option to have no headwear. hair looks a bit strange tho, like its factoring in the veil to remove clipping, on any headwear that shows hair. still though, good effort.

hopefully paradox addresses this issue in an upcoming patch, there seems to be enough people suffering from it that it surely cant have gone unnoticed.

Here are my three Anglo-Saxon girls. No mods and game files verified. They were born with the veils. I can put headgear on top, but I cannot remove the veils. Similarly, all of them are suffering from premature balding (the hairstyles clip through their foreheads).

Veils are now showing up randomly on adult concubines as well as all the above listed problems. Please fix. This is really annoying and should be simple. I am running no mods. Also, on a separate note, giving us part of royal court so we get a penalty for not having a good enough court and no way of removing said penalty without buying your poorly reviewed dlc Royal Court is reprehensible business.

i found a mod that fixes this issue completely.

works like a charm.

Yeah but that removes the veils completely. I like playing with them because they are historically accurate. But not being able to remove them is the issue. I cannot believe this hasn't been fixed yet. We've had several patches and not even a confirmation of this issue. That's crazy to me when it's such a bad bug.

Try my mod, it fixes the bug without removing them :
