Hi guys,
I want to play multi player and i have download the last patch from HOI web site...v 1.02 vphq.....when i want to play MP game , I can not very often because some have UPHQ , others PPHQ, or TPHQ or VTHQ....etc....wft ? how can it be so many version around....should it not be able to play with one common version ? and i can not find any download which specify which version before you download on any of the link site ....   this is frustrating, you logg in , hope to find some people for a nice game on Vnet ( too often down btw ) and after a while getting rejected to join games ( kind of club i only play with my mates ) you find two or three people and they all have a different version of the game.....so i play solo , but this is really p...g me off. Technically, just because one update change manpower or Ic or a name , compatibility is not possible.....surrely there should ba something paradox could do ? What about 1 common game for MP.....or maybe some of you might say i am dumb and patches with description of which 1.02 version are easy to get......

Version Alpha Spaghetti

Hi LJ,

We all had the same problem. Most people have changed the Manpower Bug problem with a tiny code fix -- Barkdreg has a sticky about it in the forums, go here for the answer:

http://www.europa-universalis.com/forum/showthread.php?t=200112

Now when you implement this fix your alpha version change to UPHQ -- this is the basic MP version that we use in the Aussie MP games.

The reason for the four letter alpha version is so that all MP players will have a kind of checksum made so that everyone knows that they are playing with the same game.

This means that if I played against you for e.g. and had changed one of my provinces to give me rares of 100 per month -- my alpha version would look like VXZK (for example) -- this would tip you off that we were not playing on an 'even field' -- and in fact we would be unable to play!!

Does this make sense now??

Good luck

Advise from me

Im gonna give you a hard advise.

By the version that they sell in the shop, thats the version most players have.

YQHQ, and after that, u can go manpower fix, if you feel for it.

and remember the patch, currently V 1.2

That my opinion, i have hered about a problem that the download version is not playeble with the shop version......
