Game crashes every 15-30min, and loading the game itself from the launcher takes easily 5-6 minutes each time.

I couldn't find a file called exceptions.txt - so I hope these are sufficient by themselves.

Thank you for any help you can provide - this game has been terribly optimised for my rig - which is a Macbook Pro running Bootcamp Windows.
I should also add that the game is installed on a separate external Harddrive, not my C Drive.

- NO MODS USED -

Please let me know if I can provide anymore information.

"Right click on victoria3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate at 60."

I've seen this recommended already, and I've tried it and it makes no difference to either the load time, performance issues (maybe slightly better on this) or crashing.

Can I ask why you are running it in bootcamp instead of the native Mac version? I mean it ought to work either way.

In any case, that error log looks like a bad install OR a mod problem, if you are using any.

Please do a full clean re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-Vic3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Victoria3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/Victoria3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add Victoria3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Victoria3 or Documents Victoria3 locations, before installing again.

I only run games on Bootcamp (not all games run on MacOS) - all my other games run well on Bootcamp, so I expect Victoria 3 to do so as well.

I just did a full clean re-install and it didn't make any difference. But I will do so again, with the added steps (the Windows Defender etc.).

Thank you for your help!

PS: Does it matter what drive I install Vic3 on? C or external D drive, it doesn't matter I suppose?

So I can report that the game performs a lot better now (I installed the game on my C Drive), loading in around 1 minute now, rather than 5-6min. The graphics are also better etc.

Are there any known issues with AMD graphics?

Nonetheless, after ¬15min, the game still CTD - I have no understanding as to why this is happening.

No, I run it on D: just fine.

Not as such, no - I'd say around 1/4 to 1/3 of our users have AMD video.

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Sorry, doesn't seem the DXDIAG file attached in my first post. Here it is, as requested. Sorry for the inconvenience!

And thank you again for your help!

Just for the record, the game has not crashed today, but there are still weird performance issues - any help on improving performance would be greatly appreciated!

there are still weird performance issues
Can you describe these in more detail please?

Under Bootcamp can you apply general video driver updates, or do they have to come from Apple? Because your AMD driver is 2022, and you should be on a 2024 one

Also, please expand your Windows paging file maximum size to 32gb
AND exit every other app you can before starting the game.

Thank you for the help.

To begin, this is where I've always updated my AMD Software: PRO Edition: https://www.amd.com/en/resources/support-articles/release-notes/APPLE-BOOT-CAMP.html
I tried using the link you provided, but it said that no AMD software could be found - which is strange. I am currently using v. 22.10.1.

For the lag what I mean is that by the 1850s, to process 1 week already becomes very slow, even on 5 max speed. I'm looking to speed up the pace of the game in terms of weekly ticks.

Lastly, I never run any programs while gaming, except Steam (obviously) - unless you're referring to background applications?

I'm not familiar with this - what initial size and maximum size should I set it to? It says space available is 19942MB, and it is currently allocating 5632MB, with Recommended being: 2930MB.
The minimum size doesn't matter but we want the max to be at least 32gb (32000mb). But !
Drive: C:
Free Space: 15.4 GB
Total Space: 238.8 GB
File System: NTFS
Model: Apple APPLE SSD AP0512 SCSI Disk Device

Drive: D:
Free Space: 40.4 GB
Total Space: 953.8 GB
File System: NTFS
Model: WD My Passport 0827 USB Device
You are critically low on disk space, indeed I'd say you made your C: drive too small under bootcamp. Clear what space you can on C: , move what you can to D: in fact.

Normally I'd say to make part of your paging file. on D: , but an external USB device is unsuitable for that purpose.

How many GB should I have free on C Drive - roughly? I didn't realise it mattered.

IME Windows likes at least 10% free on its boot drive.

Thanks, I now have 27.2GB free on C. All your advice has not been in vain, the game is running better, no crashes (so far). I will say though, that I'm now in the early 1900s as Iran, and the game is really chugging slowly. Is this normal for a rig like mine? Anything else I can do to speed up the weekly ticks?

Thank you again for your time! :)

Your Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9750H CPU is not much above the minimum requirement, the Intel® Core™ i5-3470 . And your AMD Radeon Pro 5300M is well below the recommended AMD® Radeon™ RX 5600 XT. So I'm not sure there's a lot can be done about that ... you can try reducing the game's graphics quality settings as much as you can stand.
