Very strange problem with paradox games.

I'm having the same problem occur in all my paradox interactive games.

It started while playing HoI2: Doomsday. At the loading screen, the game minimized. It doesn't close, just minimized. After maximizing the game a few times, the game eventually freezes.

I reinstalled doomsday several times, continuously running into the same bug. Eventually I gave up, uninstalled the game, and deleted everything related to Paradox Interactive.

Then I bought Victoria last night so I could have something to play. I installed the game, with a new folder for paradox. As the game started, the same exact glitch occured. It made it through the opening movie fine, and then when it got to the loading screen it minimized. After fighting with it for a few times, it froze.

I'm using a Dell Dimension DIME521, windows XP Home edition, Victoria 1.0 (Doomsday was 1.3 and reinstalled as 1.0), with 5.22 free GB, 2.0 Mhz, 960 MB of Ram, with the latest Direct X installation.

Thats everything in the sticky that I'm certain of.

Try and rename the avi folder to avi.old.

The same error occurs, only now the game begins without the opening sequence.

Try and set colourdepth to 16 bit. Set screen resolution to 1024X768.

It that doesn't help, run dxdiag, run all tests, save all info and post that info in this thread.

That did the trick. I changed my monitor settings when I was playing a DVD, never thought that would effect the game. Thanks a bunch.
