log.txt will be in the converter directory. Also, to double-check, which Hoi4 version are you converting to?
sorry for late reply, when i downloaded the 0.3 converter it told me to update to 0.4 so i did. orginally i had hoi4 on the 1.13 versions as i read in this forum that the converter worked best for that version, but the game said the mod was for 1.14 so i had to update.

I need the mod 'Converted - Holy Roman Empire', that's the one used for the save. As for log.txt, there's another a folder deeper, and it looks like you'll need to run the converter to completion once more first.

Thanks! When I converted the playset had some kind of error, I had to remove and add again the mod. After that, everything looked fine.

This was using a sample converter I'll be doing an official release of soon.

NOW RELEASED!

0.4 Doorman - for Vic3[1.3-1.6] and Hoi4[1.14]

Updates to a game usually mean a fair bit of work to update the converter. Two games updating at nearly the same time? Turned out to be not so bad. There's some other small fixes, but this release is mostly for game update compatibility. Work on the stories system continues in the background.

All changes are pushed to the converter immediately, so make sure to update the converter every time you run it!

We do log a lot of balance-related information, so it would be helpful if you shared log.txt from the converter directory even for conversions that succeed. That'll help us determine the correct balance. As well, we know there's a bunch of weird map stuff. If you find more, please report them here.

As well, I've created a mod that tweaks some of the significant provinces to make VP locations and railroads come out better: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3040854878

For the next bit, we'll be working on ways to make the world more active and customizable. Hoi4 modders, this will be your time to shine, we'll need your help to make this great. More on this topic in a future post.

  • Assign unassigned provinces to surrounding strategic regions.
  • Fix army unit conversion
  • Fix navy conversion
  • Fix various crashes
Coldfixes
  • Make the minimum naval base level one
  • Import 1.5-style pacts

Balance
  • Use updated ideology mappings from forums.
Enhancements

'Normal' in this case meant all the provinces were owned. The flags is because the converter currently tires to use existing flags and sometimes runs out. Proper full flag support is some time in the future, but you could mod the flags if you want by swapping files in the gfx/flags folder.

oh alright, thanks for the info

Am I basically understanding correctly that converted countries in Hearts of Iron IV don't like to go to war (even if they did in Vic 3) because their motives for going to war aren't currently really translated across from Victoria 3, and the planned Stories system is the solution to this?

The conversion worked for me... but because there were multiple Congos, one of them seems to have ended up generating a CON.txt file, rendering the HOI4 mod it generated undeleteable on Windows without using cmd, which is probably not desired behaviour...

Good catch, that's definitely not desired

That's correct. In the meanwhile, people can craft custom focus trees.

Steam versions available for rollback seem to jump from 1.13.7 to 1.5.4. Am I doing something wrong, or should I be using one of these versions?

Use the latest converter, there's no need to roll back.
