Hello everyone. Thanks again to the devs for working on these amazing converters! I was hoping someone might be able to give some advice on how best to use this converter. I have seen some comments and also viewed a few timelapses where the AI is very static and fails to raise world tension. (I am aware that is inherent limitation of the generic focus trees which are in place at the moment). How are people using the converter to get a good game of hoi4? Are there any particular mods or ways people are probing the AI to do stuff without the focus trees?

HoI4 without focus trees isn't very dynamic unfortunately. There might be some AI mods that would mesh with a converter to increase "aggression" or something like that. Otherwise, once the stories system is ready, that should add more dynamism to conversions.

Hello, I'm trying to convert my file but it keeps failing at 9% with the error "Invalid map <K, T> key.

This is the first time I've converted a vic3 game to a Hoi4 game so I'm not really too sure on what I'm doing as I never had this issue with CK3 or EU4

I was using Chaos AI mod which allows to ignite a portion of the world tension at the start of the game which then makes AI to hesitantly start fabricating on other players and wage some wars. Alternatively after completing 1 or 2 of my own wars the world tension is already high enough to make AI players a bit more alive with creating factions, providing guarantees and fabricating.

I've done some investigation, and did you play in Vic3 1.7? The conversion mod is for 1.8, but the crash suggests it was played on Vic3 1.7.
If that's what happened, the save isn't going to be convertible at all. I'll soon have a fix that at least gives error messages in the converter instead of a crash, but it won't fix the core issue.

Yes I had been playing on 1.7.7, I had a 1.8 game on the 8th and tried to convert it but it gave me an error saying that it couldn't convert the 1.8 version. So to fix this would I just have to play Vic on the latest version and it should be able to convert to the current version of Hoi?

You can't use the latest eu4 converter (made for 1.8) and then import the mod to 1.7. A lot of things are different and the game will be broken by default.

To make a normal 1.7 converstion you need to use an older eu4 to vic3, and then stick to that until you convert to hoi4.

0.6 Fioravanzo - for Vic3[1.8] and Hoi4[1.15]

This update is mostly supporting the latest updates to Vic3 and Hoi4. There's also a fix to how the converter handles Eu4 to Vic3 conversion mods. Work on the stories system still continues in the background - it's disabled except for developers but does generate focus trees now. I need to make the stories system handle decisions, events, and localizations, then I'll be able to open it up to people developing stories while I work on triggers.

All changes are pushed to the converter immediately, so make sure to update the converter every time you run it!

We do log a lot of balance-related information, so it would be helpful if you shared log.txt from the converter directory even for conversions that succeed. That'll help us determine the correct balance. As well, we know there's a bunch of weird map stuff. If you find more, please report them here.

Sorry first time using conversor. The conversion went trough but I can not open the game, says error on map. I used a mod to increse resources on vic and another to add flavor to japan. Anexed the save if you could tell me what to do or if you need anything else? Thanks for the help.

Thanks for including the save! I'll also need copies of the mods (links to where I can download them or subscribe is fine) and log.txt from the converter folder.
 
I have converted and the actual conversion seems to work, but the converter doesn't convert the navies and armies properly. I have like 800+ mechanized infantry and heavy and light tanks, but I still only get light infantry divisions. I also have like 430 flotillas including carriers, but I only get a bit over 100 ships and zero carriers. I have looked at the unit mapping files and it doesn't seem like this i supposed to happen. I have tried massively increasing motorized infantry generated by mechanized infantry in the unit_mapping file but nothing changed.
Also only the democracies get portraits for their rulers. Maybe its supposed to be that way, I don't know. I am grateful for all the help I have received and any help I might receive.

Looking at the log, something very bad happened to your save. I don't know if it was changing Vic3 versions mid-game or turning mods on or off mid-game, but it's not going to be convertible. There's a mismatch between the provinces and states and there's nothing that can be done to fix that.
