Victoria 2

I'm playing Victoria 2 for the 1st time but it's DRM free and not in Steam. So how do I get the latest patch? Everything I read said how to get it in steam but not through Paradox.

Please help if you can.

Generally you get those patches from the place you bought the game. Was that from Paradox directly, a boxed edition, Amazon or GamersGate download, or where exactly?

I didn't think they'd sold our games for 10 years or more .... ?!? In any case they should also host the patches for the game.

GOG has the "Civil War Edition" or something like that, which includes the base game and the "A House Divided" first expansion, and also carries the "Heart of Darkness" expansion. I don't believe they sell the base game and first expansion separately, which would be a problem in your case. The GOG expansions do (or did) work with the original game on CD, or with downloads from GamersGate or Amazon, but Steam's versions are incompatible with anyone else's.

Unfortunately, the Heart of Darkness expansion requires the first expansion. Good luck figuring out how to move forward with it. I had to repurchase it when Microsoft no longer supported the on-disc DRM used on the original CD.

Sure it's DRM free and not a Steamkey ?
When i search for it (Victoria+Gamersgate) i only see a Steamkey version.

They used to sell the no-DRM-Steam variant back in the days, but stopped many years ago, except for the MAC version
and apparently restarted selling it now for Windows, but with Steamkeys.

That said, Victoria 2 requires all two expansions to get the fully patched version.
So have you got both expansions as well ?
The base game only is patched to 1.3 or 1.4.

IF you somehow indeed still got the non-Steamvariant, then the patches might be inside your account at Gamersgate,
as far as i recall. IF the installer insn't already patching your game. It's been quite a while ago...

As pointed out, Paradox pulled its games from GamersGate somewhere around a decade ago, so any info on them from back then is probably obsolete. If they're selling a Steam key now, that means the expansions through them won't be compatible with those of any of the other sellers, or with the original CD base game.
