Happy Tuesday Victorians!

We have released Opt in Beta 1.9.8 in a beta accessible version today, this Opt in Beta fixes an issue with subject wargoals not being enforced when their overlord capitulates. Please mark any bug reports with ‘OIB 1.9.8’ when reporting issues found on the beta.

If you want to opt in to the Beta Hotfix you can do so in Steam by following these steps:

  1. Right click the game application in Steam, select ‘Properties’
  2. In Properties select ‘Betas’
  3. Now, in the Betas section open the check box and scroll to the entry labelled ‘opt-in-beta-1.9.8’ and click it.
    1. This will now start downloading to your game, as it is a new hotfix it may take some time to load for the first time.
  4. If you want to return to the live version of the game ‘1.9.7’ as of writing, then you follow the same steps but select ‘None’ in the Beta dropdown selection.

The following changes have been made to the game compared to 1.9.7:

Bugfixes

  • Fixed "Transfer Subject" and "Liberate Subjects" wargoals not being enforced when the overlord capitulates (as opposed to accepting a peace offer, or giving in before war breaks out)
  • Fixed an issue that can lead to users who play multiplayer with mods to have a checksum error despite both having the same mods and checksum (aka Single Mod MP Law is repealed)

Oh, I guess that's why I had strange behaviour when trying to dismantle peru-bolivarian confederation

Seems to work with the random transfer subject save I had lying around, thank you.

Hannibal said that this would be the only fix, but would it be a good idea to squeeze the treaty localization string fix in as well?
(Someone also asked to make occupied state market access a moddable constant as well, though after all that's happened maybe we shouldn't add yet more potential QA points of failure until the team comes back)

My barracks yearn for recruits, please fix them!

You're likely limited by officers. And don't have enough educated people to be promoted to officers.
No. Everyone has enough educated people for everything in this game. It's very hard to NOT have enough qualifications for anything, the qualification system in this game wasn't really well designed at all, it has no teeth.
The bug is that during battles for some reason officers will often get completely destroyed like they were servicemen (while the servicemen may suffer barely any casualties) and when that happens, affected barracks will take ages (decades!) to replace the people they lost, it has got to do with the game not allowing a certain difference between worker types or something. There's even a YouTube video explaining the bug.

We don't always have a localization capacity at hand, as we send it out in batches. That is why this will have to remain in this state for some more time until we have the full release of 1.9.8
I looked into it to see how much of it I could do myself, but it turned out to not be feasible unfortunately.

I have been told there has been an additional fix added and have since added it to the notes!

Random little issue but when you switch countries and switch back it deletes historical GDP. Is that intended for some reason.

...Yes, I switch countries.

Sorry to keep posting this, but the private investment queue 1. ignoring construction efficiency and 2. building hundreds of levels of stuff at once that's utterly unemployable are still bugged. Have not been fixed as stated in patch notes.

Hi, have updated to Beta 1.9.8 after the broken subject transfer/release etc spoiled my last game and achievement run, but while testing it I've noticed this (pretty sure I saw it on previous version too)

Despite having all the war targets, Nationalise goal still will not allow the war support to tick down.

Is there any chance you can fix the liberate joiner bug while you’re working on liberate? A subject that joins your liberate war invalidates the liberate wargoal (since you can’t enforce wargoals on an ally).

Possible bug... I can't join conflicts.
Ottoman conflict fires up, I have an interest in the region and it does not allow me to join a side.
It doesn't show up on screen, and even when I click Egypt (which I have an interest in) it does not allow me to join the conflict.

Do you have a truce with the defender and/or obligations with parties on both sides?

Did you try verifying game file integrity? If so, did you open a thread with saves, screenshots and explanations? This bug seem to have had multiple causes, many already fixed, but maybe you found yet another one...

The play is in Anatolia, not Nile. Maybe only Anatolia states are affected by the war?
