Short summary of your issue
Computer turns off mid-game

Game Version
1.0.3 (Vanilla)

What OS are you playing on?
Windows

Do you have mods enabled?
No

Have you tried verifying your game files?
Yes

How much "pain" is this causing you?
10

Please explain the issue you experienced in the most condensed way possible
I have 99 minutes of game time and have crashed four or five times. It turns my whole computer off without a blue screen.

Please explain how to reproduce the issue
It has happened to saves where I never even unpaused (attached) and it happened in games where a couple years have passed.

Is there anything else you think could help us identify/replicate the issue?
It's not a driver problem, they're updated and correct. If its a power supply issue then it's not one I have with any other paradox game, nor is it a problem I have with more graphically intense games like Jedi Fallen Order. The most recent crash/restart happened while I was loading in to adjust settings hoping that adjusting them downward would work.

I have attached a save game
Yes

Having the same issues. Tried updating my graphics card driver and it still causes the no-error shutdown.
I found my solution, it appears it was a power supply issue for me but an unconventional one. I have a laptop that doesn't have a battery, instead I'm reliant on a charger that must always be plugged in, and for whatever reason the game is making it heat up far more than typical. My work around was to move it to a cooler surface and to periodically pour a small amount of water on it which helps dissipate the heat.

I've experienced crashes seemingly caused by CPU overheating in CK3, despite only extremely rarely encountering similar issues in other games. Might be the same thing here, given how similar the engine is.

You know, that solution just doesn't feel very safe for some reason...

I've checked the internal temp of my machine while playing and haven't seen any temperature spikes either. I ran into this problem in CK3 earlier but it went away after some unspecified period of time (possibly from driver update?)

This sounds like an overheat/hardware issue.
Moving to tech support.

The current game ready Nvidia driver as of the game release was bugged and caused the cards to max out their utilization, increasing the power draw to 100% and heating the cards up to temps beyond what I like to see them run, over 70 C.

So I changed the driver from the game ready one to the studio driver, which helped a lot.

However there is now a new driver available having been released yesterday, version 526.47, which I am just about to download and test.

UPDATE:
The new driver is definitely an improvement. Download and install 526.47 or later. You can of course use the Nvidia GeForce Experience program or go to https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/game-ready-drivers/ if you prefer downloading and installing manually.

And of course I use an Nvidia driver, good to know that is the real source of the problem.

Edit: Nevermind, not a victoria 3 problem, also just happened while not playing the game.

I too have this problem. Happened 4 times now.
After the 3rd time, I looked up this post, and updated my drivers as suggested. That seemed to solve the problem, but now, several game hours later, it happened again. PC just shuts of out of nowhere and restarts a few seconds later. I've looked at the temperatures of the system but that seems to be fine, I've updated the drivers (I too have an NVidia card, 1080 to be precise) but still it happened. Never happened outside of playing Victoria 3, even on graphically much more demanding games.

I haven't experienced the shut down issue so no guesses on that one. Good luck searching for the fix for that one. Did a quick search and there a a lot of possibilities on that problem.

I found the Nvidia issue by running Task Manager and seeing the Desktop Windows Manager running the GPU at 100% almost constantly which I deemed as very odd behavior. A quick Google search discovered the Nvidia driver issue.

Another thing I do is install the drivers using GeForce Experience and I always choose the "Clean Install" option. Don't know if you did that or not. This clears out the old drivers during install.

You could click the three dots beside Check for Updates and switch the driver over to the Studio Driver rather than the Game Ready Driver and see if that helps at all. Below that is another 3 dots where you can select "Reinstall driver" if you think that might be necessary. But I don't really think the GPU is causing random shutdowns.

Have the same Problem and it ONLY happens while playing Vic 3 and i checked literally everything from reinstalling the Game, Discord (thought its it) to changing power supply etc. but nothing helped. Cant`t play the game anymore cause of it, crashed my Pc more then 200 times already. It cant be my Hardware either, had my Task Manager open a few times to look at it but i dont think that an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-Core / 16GB RAM / NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 and a SSD are to weak for the Game and it never showed anything.

Like I said every other Game, App or Document has 0 Problems, only Vic 3. Pretty sad cause its my favourite Game at the moment...

Right click on victoria3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, refresh rate 60.

If those don't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Vic3/pdx_settings.json .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Vic3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log

Don't even have something called "victoria3.exe"i mean i have the manifest but if i right click it doesnt show something with properties or else or do you mean smth different? I literally reseted my whole PC today to get rid of any potentially responsible data but it hasnt changed anything. The PC still keeps crashing (still only when playing Vic 3) so im now 100% sure its the Game. I dont know what to do anymore...

".exe" is short for executable / application ("Anwendung" in German), in your case it would be the file named victoria3 (the one that also shpws the Vicky icon).
The actual name of the file is "victoria3.exe", Windows is simply omitting showing .exe file type endings with its default settings.

Ok so "here we go again". At first I thought this was finally it. The Game worked close to 24h with no error after your Setting advices. But now it crashed my PC again sadly and idk why suddenly after it seemed to work again. None of the Settings did change again, everything is like u told me but now the Problem is back...

This did help the number of resets but I still get it from time to time. Anything else you can suggest to stomp it out completely?

Hi, having the same issue.

Files attached.
Looks to me like the issue is not solved yet. I also tried to look over the internet and found little to nothing (some Reddit posts, but not very helpful)

I just replaced some components in the PC.
Before I never had this issue. Now the game crushes the whole pc (turns off completely) almost immediately after launching a game with a nation.
If not immediately, after some actions, like clicking some buttons...

I'm clueless, checked overheating, tried reinstalling Vic3, drivers for GPU, monitoring performances (CPU/GPU).
Pls halp.
