@AndrewT No change with a clean re-install and all of the above actions followed, crashed to desktop within five minutes of starting the game. Please do a full clean re-install:
- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-Vic3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Vic3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/Vic3 folders
In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Vic3 or Documents Vic3 locations, before installing again.
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add Victoria3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
Unload GeForce Experience if running.
THEN Right click on victoria3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, refresh rate 60.
Now test with a new campaign - any better?
I am sorry then, I cannot see what is wrong in Windows or hardware to make our game crash this way.@AndrewT No change with a clean re-install and all of the above actions followed, crashed to desktop within five minutes of starting the game.
@AndrewT Same issue occurred with a new user. Speccy file attachedI am sorry then, I cannot see what is wrong in Windows or hardware to make our game crash this way.
What if you make a new Windows user on it and log into Windows with that - does it still happen?
If so, please install and run the free utility Speccy. Send its output to a text file and attach that here, thanks.
@AndrewT I have done that with AVG. It has not been an issue for me with other PDX games, but I have added all of the folders/exe file to all of the exception lists.I see you have AVG antivirus. While not known to be an issue with this game, it has caused problems with some of our other games sometimes. Do make sure victoria3.exe is in all its exceptions lists, and the game folders are not having realtime scans.
I don't see anything else in there known or likely to cause problems like this I'm afraid! If the above does not help, I think it's time for you to move to the Bug Reports forum and upload the .dmp and other crash files there, for QA to look into.
A link to this thread for sure, plus the latest log files and if there any Crash folders in Documents/Paradox Interactive/Vic3.What would you like me to upload to the Bug Reports? Copies of the crashes, copies of the relevant posts from this thread?
