Please explain the issue you experienced in the most condensed way possible
Game will not open from Paradox launcher. I have tried opening from within binaries to the same issue. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and reset my entire computer with no change. I have submitted all crash reports.

Please explain how to reproduce the issue


Is there anything else you think could help us identify/replicate the issue?

Add Victoria3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.

IF IT USED TO WORK:
Please do a full clean re-install:
move any valued save games elsewhere
"uninstall" in Steam-Vic3
manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Vic3 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/Vic3 folders
re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
add Victoria3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
start the game with no mods active and test


In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Vic3 or Documents Vic3 locations, before installing again.

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Vic3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Vic3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log

Andrew, per my original post, I use a Mac. These tips are not relevant to me. I have pursued every workaround offered with the launcher and none have worked.

But it may not be a launcher problem. What video system does your Mac have? This game will not run on Intel video under MacOS.

It runs on an Intel CPU, but not on an Intel video system which as you can see must be AMD.

Which you have, we now see, so the issue must be elsewhere. Your video system seems about equal in power to the minimum requirement.

Not the OP but someone with the same issue: yes, it does run from Finder. It's just not connected to my cloud save or lets me get achievements.

Actually it's the video system that's the most likely problem but you don't mention that - is it an Intel or AMD?

Oh, sorry. It's an Intel UHD Graphics 630.

Unfortunately that is not supported hardware for this game, as per post #9 above - only AMD video systems are. The game will never run on this machine I'm afraid!

Ah, right, that facet slipped my mind over the weekend. I am surprised it starts for you though! It is possible that will no longer work in future, we saw that happen with CK3 on Macs with Intel video systems, for instance.

Hard to see why you can run Victoria3.app but the launcher can't. What exactly happens when you hit PLAy in Steam?

The launcher pops up, and when I hit play (or resume) from there the game launches (well, the screen goes momentarily black, like an app is opening) and crashes immediately.
