A most pleasurable time yesterday! Thanks to @Rensslaer , @filcat , @TheButterflyComposer , @Macavity116 and certainly to @DensleyBlair for organizing! It was entirely worth it to miss the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail party (it was a rout anyway.)

Some notes - fil and I hashed it out over the use of Meg as a name (he remains unimpressed), the Irish will still someday take over space, my Welsh accent turns to bad Scots accent very quickly, sadly (we missed you @iain_a_wilson)...hmm, what else? Jeez...hard to remember. We were at it for over eight hours. A lot of ground was covered!

Let's do it again soon. :)

[EDIT - And I watched Young Frankenstein after...Ovaltine? ]

I had a great time too! Very nice to meet everybody. Good, fun conversation.

Good to remember some of the writers and commenters we don't see anymore also, such as Storey and Stnylan. And we had a fun talk about the Guess the Author Challenge.

I don't remember signing off and I think I probably fell asleep before the end. Did I just disappear and was no more? Sorry I missed the tail end of it.

@Rensslaer You kind of faded out sometime around the middle of the night. You did miss @filcat's TED talk about the power of creators and @coz1's reaction when he realized he missed the big game entirely.

An absolutely great hangout, and great to meet you too Renssalaer.

@Macavity116 you joined in 2 or 3 hours after I started with @DensleyBlair so yeah it was probably the middle of when you were there. Great to meet you though!

I would have loved to see @coz1's reaction! I was going to interject at one point about how Georgia was ahead by 20 points but figured he knew that

I have to apologize for not making it, unfortunately work intervened and I had to investigate a traffic fatality, which is turning into an absolute comedy of bureaucracy trying to get the right people notified.

Definite delight that was - or the series can be renamed as another midnight at the videobAAR, synopsis:
- losing TBC between the hours (one moment quoting from a post, in the next is gone)
- boring away Densley after the winter time adjustment (probably right, a set-time for these evening-night-morning events can ease the schedule-planning)
- snoozing Rensslaer off to the never-ending talks (hey after six hours, anyone would do so)
- being bewildered about the obvious sht that stellaris players say by Mac (admitting ck remains as a planetary second compared to galactic-scale stellaris)
- coz still insisting on that it is about the hypocorism despite not (coz... can I call you coz? Splendid. Hear this out: It is not about that, but the question does not fit the narrative style.)
- and finally, missing all those who could not attend, and wishing all the best for the next round

cheers

Thanks for a great meet-up the other night, everyone. Great to see returning faces @coz1, @Macavity116, @TheButterflyComposer and @filcat, and wonderful to meet @Rensslaer after all these years! I thought I did well with a 6-hour shift, but 8 hours is real commitment. Well done to all who stayed on for the whole thing!

I’ll revive GtA later this week. And maybe I’ll even find some time to write more on Echoes soon. Got to put the miles in if we’re going to catch up with @Macavity116, eh @coz1? :p

Take care all, and see you for another one soon. We’ll have to meet again over the festive season I’m sure.

Never gonna live down that one time I wrote an oversized AAR series, am I? ;)
