ALL of the original events, as i have mentioned several times before. Being as all active and contributing members left a while back i have been given total free reign.

Researching vinland (reading sagas for example), and specifically some more radical theories, has led me to rethink everything. Basically a new scenario in my opinion :)

No daubt the scenario is beautifull as is the idea of Sucsesfull Norse settelments in North-America.
How about conecting it with a Iceland-Greenland scenario?
Just an idea. :D
Friendly greetins
(PS I have heard a story about Vikings in New England, have to ask a collegue of me how and what it was ,given time I'll tell you about it if you're intrested.)

Thanks for the appreciation, it's been a long time since someone has engaged in conversation here. In the original scenario we had greenlander and icelandic revolters, however as we started to add bits and pieces to this it became unweildly. I would still keep them as a potential revolters.

Regarding the Norse in New England i am already firmly a believer of such a theory. Evidence strongly suggests that Leifsbudir and indeed Hope are in possibly narrangasett bay, others believe in is in Waquoit Bay... some chap is in fact doing some underwater archeology there as we speak. I have been doing alot of my own research focusing on such places as Penobscot Bay, Deer Isle, Maine... Bar Harbour, Maine... the list of possible landfalls is quite extensive.

The scenario i am re-writing at the moment is going to allow alternate starting locations, but crucially it is going back to basics. The problem with the original scenario was that it was so event heavy progress simply became really ardous. Even with a permanent 3-man team we had reached the 1570's after several months of development.

Anyway, i will be releasing the revised (and simpler) version soon. Preferably with a few standard events. Once i get that release out i will update it frequently as needed. Any idea's, contributions, or proposal are always very welcome.

I am interested in starting a new thread on the new vinland scenario and closing this one...

Would anyone be interested?

Can't speak for Havard, but I think it best you give your version of the scenario a different name than the one we made together. No reason to close this thread though.

So many memories... :)

Languish, do you mean Kenneth Jorgensen? I've talked to him before about his research. :)

Yes, Narragansett Bay does closely match the description of Hop in the Vinland Saga. Do you know of the Newport Tower?

I'm thrilled to know you're into such theories. I may just have to try out the latest version of your scenario.

The guy i am referring to is Neil Good (assuming i recalled the surname correctly), but i'd be intrigued to hear of this chap. Neil is undertaking underwater investigations in waquoit bay, which when you look at an airbourne photo and consider the rising sea levels that may factor in, makes it looks extremely promising. I havent heard anything of his findings.

The Newport tower has been largely discredited as a norse construction. I watched something recently that suggested it may have even been scottish. Personally i dont think it is neither and should be ignored from general discussions. Certainly it is early-colonial, pre-colonial is debatable. What is perhaps more promising is research being undertaken at the goddard site where they found the norse coin. This coin is credible find, and the region around it matches alot of what people believe in. Historian's have some tried to explain it away by suggested it was planted or simply traded all the way down from the dorset culture in greenland/northeastern canada. Both are preposterous. I believe firmly that vinland was in new england... where precisely is another matter.

I'm thrilled to know you might try it, and perhaps chat further about discoveries and concepts. I am investigating where it could be myself... the mystery kind of draws you in.

Hm, Waquoit Bay, eh? Do you know the names of some of the towns surrounding it? It sounds dimly familiar to me but I can't place the precise location.

My theory for Vinland's location is either on Cape Cod proper somewhere, or perhaps on Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket, or nearby areas that have since eroded away. The latter might suggest why no substancial artifact caches have been located.

Read and responded to... thanks! :)

Very unstable and crashes with a lot of things though good.
One thing- What tech group is vinland in? I remember hearing latin with white man- true or not?
Is there plans for a protestant conversion event?

It was never re-coded as is to the latest patches...

I abandoned development on the new release when it was clear interest was at an all time low.

As crunchy stated a release, working, has been redone by Johan for release on the crown of the north CD.
