I've figured out why the CTD occurs from playing through your save game until AUS declares war on HUN.

Basically it is due to the AI-AI peace event firing automatically after 1850. As Hungary survived (due to Prussia accepting peace on behalf of Austria earlier in your game) it exceeded this time, and so the event fired pretty much straight after a new war was declareed. The crash was caused by the pop-up asking you to guarantee Hungary, even though it was annexed after a few days (before you could click anything).

A fix to this will be altering the trigger conditions of the peace event so that if Hungary survives it gets the victory event (which for some reason it didn't).

EDIT: It appears that it's just a potential outcome of the chain which was not considered for the peace event (which was unchanged from the former chain). It's now resolved.

Anyway, that event is actually an invention which I don't believe we have touched. It should increase the likelihood of event 23071 (was "Private Initiative", though VIP has it's own chains for these, so need to alter the invention) of firing by 25% (and you should get a tooltip which says something along those lines). The tooltip issue isn't something which we've altered either, so I'm assuming it's a game engine issue.
I've gotten the excact same bug, only with this latest version of VIP.

erm im pretty sure the UK is not supposed to have 110,000,000 people in 1901, with 11million in London! They must not be having any emigration and the natural growth must be way too high. I noticed this in my last game as Colombia, by the game end London had 20-something million people living there and the UK had surpassed 200million in total. I also noticed that Russia is not usually exceeding 140million people by game end, they tend to get stuck around there because of massive emigration, usually to my country ;)

If it's possible to do so, I think the war event where the UK and France fight over Tahiti needs to be made a colonial war. I was amused to watch France turn red during the war, but a peace where the UK takes France's entire overseas empire plus part of Brittany seems wildly disproportionate to the original offense of grabbing one Pacific island (even one as nice as Tahiti :)).

I'm anything but a modding expert, but I didn't see a colonial war command in event commands.txt. So perhaps the solution would be a pair of new events triggering on the Tahiti war event plus Paris or London being occupied, that would force a sensible peace (Tahiti plus money if UK wins, maybe money plus extra bonus prestige if France wins?).

It is like it in the base game too. We have been working on a fix, however.

Sadly we can't script colonial wars.

A couple of minor bugs:

1. Shortly after Seattle is ceded to the US, an event fires to represent native resistance by increasing Cree militancy. Unfortunately there are no Cree pops in the state of Washington, or anywhere else that I could find. I assume the event meant to increase Salish militancy.

2. Missing localization for choice B in the event about whether Texas will remain loyal in the Civil War (ACT304757B).

Edit: also there's a typo in the US "Emperor of Mexico" event, it says "rreat powers" instead of "great powers".
Edit 2: ... and more typos: a couple of land cession events mention the "Chyenne", and province_names.csv has "San Fransisco" and "Montery Bay".

Repeated CTD

'The British North Borneo Company' event is repeatedly crashing to disk.

It has happened 4 times. I'm the UK. I just finish defeating Burma when the message box appears, asking me to 'Support the Activities of the North Borneo Company' or 'We have no interest in this region'. As soon as the mouse touches the first choice, the program crashes. You don't even get a chance to click the mouse. You can move the mouse around anywhere else on the screen, even hovering above the second choice, but you cannot touch the first choice.

I already own a province in Northern Borneo. I don't know if that has something to do with it. Maybe I wasn't supposed to own it yet. But this possibility should have been worked out already.

Happens in December 1881.

Could you send me a save game from just before this happens and I'll try and look into it? I can't find much in the way of a scripting error, but you never know with this old engine...

I think something went wrong with the Sioux land cessions, since when I (USA) got the final annexation event I got the provinces in southern Saskatchewan and the SW corner of Manitoba. And didn't even realize it for many months until I saw "Railroad completed in PROVINCENAME" messages for provinces I was unfamiliar with... :rolleyes:

Also, more typos - province_names.csv has Monrovia as "Monorovia". And there are so many typos in tech_names.csv that I'm just fixing them as I see them in game. If I have the patience to keep that up I'll post the corrected file when I'm done.

That does seem odd. However, those events have long been in need of overhauling (particularly to take into account ahistoric circumstances).

Monorovia is spelt that way on the map as well. The tooltip is correct.

The tech names stuff is there from vanilla, and I agree could've had some more typos corrected in it.

playing with Two Sicilies during the first italian revolution, I managed to defend Venice and I conquered many austrian provinces (trento, fiume, salzburg, klagenfurt, innsbruk etc) but suddenly austria had the "italian rebels defeated" event! Can't understand why... I tried to find the event in the events folder but i can't find it... can someone help me please?:confused:

ok i found it (i was looking in the wrong folder ^_^).
The event fired becaus the trigger is
NOT = {
OR = {
war = { country = AUS country = LOM }
war = { country = AUS country = VEN }
}
and lombardy agreed to a status quo peace with austria some day before the events. I think this is a sort of bug because lombardy and venice were not been defeated...

This has been mentioned a few times before. It's essentially the AI-AI peace event which is causing this to happen. A bit annoying, and something we need to look at.

No, the tooltip and map are both incorrect. The map spells San Francisco as "San Fransisco" as well and nobody pretends that's correct... :) We just can't do anything about map typos as far as I know, which is why I've referred only to the province_names file.

Monrovia was named for President Monroe; see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monrovia or whatever other geographical reference you prefer.

We'd rather have the tooltip match the map, even if it is incorrect, is what I was trying to say. The tooltip is jut supposed to match whatever is already present.
