I downloaded the file and Norton AntiVirus told me that it was infected by a virus:
W32.Pinfi
was its name

However, I was able to clean it...

Any comments?

EDIT: It seems to be corrupted as well... :(

I can confirm this. It must be on the AGC, because i have just formatted my hard disk, EU2 is only thing installed and theres a PINF in the registry.

Using "regedit" you can see it here : HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Explorer
(IF you have the virus)

After I downloaded beta 2 I was informed by AVG that a download of mine was infected with a virus. The only download was the beta 2. Deleting the download seemed to solve the problem for when I ran a test after deleting the download my hard disk was found free of any viruses. Is beta 2 infected or not because it certainly seems to be?

Are you sure it's not a false positive, and 'cleaning' the install file corrupted it?

For all of you who need to download it, Korath's RAR version is here to download, if you dont have WinRAR you can download it from here.

Ive downloaded koraths version and scanned it with Norton Anti-Virus 2003 before and after I opened it, and it reported no virus. But still you download it at your own risk.

Why are you downloading an old version of the beta?

I'm surprised you found a copy with the virus still in it, becuase I discovered this when it was first posted and I though that that file had been disabled and was no longer downloadable.

This is why you should read the threads which have the download links in them. ;) It was the 3rd post in the thread. http://www.europa-universalis.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=56072 If you didn't read that far, it's your own damn fault. :p
