I installed it a few more times, and got it to work randomly; but now it seems to always work when the disc is inserted - go figure. I never needed the disc in the drive with XP...but as long as it works that's what is important.

You mean that you got it to work after installing and deinstalling it a few times? My EU still doesn't work, despite running it on XPcompatibility. The game simply forgets to activate the Bink Video Player, and without that, i can't go any further.

Because the system indicates a 'compatibility problem', the game should work when running the game in another Windows version. The game works this way for most of you guys, but not for me.

Maybe a moderator can help me out?

Never mind, I got my game running as well. Without having a clue how I got it to work... I started the game for the thousandth time and it suddenly worked.

I have just gotten a new laptop with windows vista and have downloaded the Eurpoa Universalis II, but I cannot install it. The error is as follows:

"Unhandled exception has occured in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately. The requested operation requires elevation."

I have tried clicking continue but that does not do anything at all. It gives me details, but it is long. I can send the details if requested to do so.

Does anyone have any help ideas?

Maybe the download is bad? As you can see the folks above got it working OK, although from a CD. It does sound like your problem is in the installer, not the game as such. Can you copy the download over to an XP PC and see if it works there?

Just upgraded to Vista myself and though I got the game to run after a couple of tries it does crash a lot (every 50 years or so, but very variable). I can't really see any correlation with anything for these crashes, apart from me doing well of course. It just decides to crash for no apparent reason.
