I wonder if someone (once Roads are made available for modding) could create roads with the texture of water and a slow speed limit, then create car models that are boats and buildings to match.

The issue would be the transition between cars and boats but it would be pretty cool.

Since every car is attached in some way to a cim, the transition would not be possible.

It would however, be easier to pre-make the canals in map editor, Chicago style, and then have a mod for marinas and seawalls.

For some reason, I'm suddenly picturing this...

Haha that's a funny idea. You don't need any transitions if ALL roads and cars are made into canals and boats either. Would be a lot of work to match other stuff like buildings, traffic lights (???), railroad crossroads and such, but the concept is hilarious :D.

Sorry to Amsterdam folks... I couldn't resist making the comment above.

For the record, Amsterdam is an amazing city with a helluva lot more going on than the stereotypes I listed above. I know it's a great place, and I don't want anyone from there thinking I'm dissing their fine city!!

Well we need red light districts, you're right. it's just some "extra" commercial specialization.

Absolutely. But I think red light companies/locations should just automatically appear in low-income commercial or industrial zones if you allow this branch in the policies for the district. Should increase tax income and tourism but also crime and it should lower the land value. ;)

Yes and that is why the Red Light discrit in Amsterdam is in the center of the city -_-'... if you want to deal with it correctly a lot more factors have to be included.
