Can't Reload as Teutonic Order

So I started the game as the duchy of Saxony. Through war I eventually held many titles - the highest being Grand Master of the Teutonic Order. When I saved the game it saved as Teutonic Order_1094_May_4.eug. When I went to load the game again I clicked on the save game and searched for the Teutonic Order or The Duchy of Saxony in the window where you pick your country before you can start a game and couldn't find either title. I looked under King, Duke, and Count (I didn't know what a grandmaster was and the symbol looked a lot like a king's) Is this a bug? Shouldn't Saxony or The Teutonic order still be listed? How do I continue playing my game?

It's not possible to play as TO I'm afraid. And as the grandmaster of TO is now also the duke of saxony you're unable to select them.

How did this happen and how to avoid it

If I go back to the last save game where I'm the duke of saxony can I take the title and then give it away? In other words can I conquer him, but not take the title and but not fall into the save game problem.

Another question if the TO is like the Pope -a non-playable character-why did I get the title.
