Is this the call for a Crusade? How long are the Crusades going to last? Is there any way to stop them for 50 years or so. Maybe if the pope lost prestige for all the piety that was lost by the Kings of Europe, then we could have him stop the damn crusades after the first decade or so.

ahum,

this is not the way you should see it. The event is more intended to people who have become the pariah of the catholic church like heretics and kinslayers, they can get their stigma removed at great cost,

you can always visit the church once and take the piety bonus,

I know that this is a possibilty one should think about, but it costs a certain amount of money anyway. As Meath I can not spend that much. Ok maybe I could have spend it when this event appeared the first time, but now the "visit the chruch once" does not bring my piety back above 0. So I have to spend too much. It is a downwardsspiral without end. Either Money or Piety. In the meantime I managed it by waiting for the death of my ruler. Then I started once again with a piety of 0 and now everything works fine and my present score is piety 600

I just wanted to chip in and say that I really don't like the way piety is handled, and the total impossibility of having a shot at taking Jerusalem without first having conquered most of africa for manpower. Granted, I've not played many games, but seeing the Fatimids with 60,000 troops at their disposal - what western european country, ALONE, has that kind of manpower at their disposal?
If the AI would be prepared to go to war, I suppose it would get better, as you could actually have some aid to do it.
I don't know, but inheriting piety sounds like a good idea too, I was crusading for 20 years in one game as Aragon, just to have my ruler die once it was completed, leaving me with an underaged, although competent, ruler with 0 prestiege and -4 piety a month who can't even grab the land for himself once conquered (since he doesn't lead the army).

All I can say is "meh".

Also, this might be a bit OT, what is this mysterious "visit church" button you speak of?
