Permanent illness trait not resulting in death

At the age of 27 my king gained the illness trait.

Shortly after i mobilized him and his regiment for combat against the moors.
I have kept him mobilized permanently since and he is now over 40 years old, and still has the illness trait.

All the other times any of my characters have gained the illness trait they have died shortly after.

It seems as if the illness trait can't "take effect" while he is mobilized?

I'd choose WAD. You aren't guaranteed to die soon if you get the trait, the chances are just bigger. Naturally if you can come up with a clear pattern that nobody ever dies when leading an army the situation is different.

Being in command wouldn't have any effect.

Your character probably had a very high health attribute, even with illness, and/or you were lucky. :)

Actually this is probably related to the problem in the two Death from Illness events that I reported a while ago. Basically, one of those events checks that you are Catholic and have EVERY "saintly" trait (upon which you die and are canonized); the second event checks that you are either not Catholic, or have NONE of the "saintly" traits, upon which you simply die. That means that Catholics with some but not all of the "saintly" traits will never die from illness.
