It should be independent. I don't think it displays correctly on the 1066 startup because I didn't go through every history file the ruler of anjou owns and removed the liege = k_france reference. But it should be independent and it is in my version.
I downloaded this, but I can still create king-titles as Seljuk in 1066 and hand them out. Is this correct?

IIRC you should be able to create kingdom titles but only for non-dejure land. I'd advise you not to hand them out as well, since it's pretty much bad sportsmenship. The intent behind this was to allow situations like Charles V being both king of Spain and HRE, or Sigismund being HRE and King of Hungary.

Actually I tried this on my version and it point blank won't let you create kingdom titles as Emperor. So I don't know what the problem with your version is.

This is the first time I've played this mod, am doing a Norman playthru. But the King of West Francia just created the empire of france and now he's handing out king titles to aquitaine, burgundy, etc.-- didn't think this was supposed to happen? They're definitely not creating the titles themselves, I looked at the histories and the titles say "granted"

I'm really not sure. Again, this has never happened in my version and it should be explicitly disallowed. Did you install the mod correctly?

Are you sure it's the Emperors creating titles? Vassals of an Emperor can still create king level titles.

As I said, I played as Seljuk just to test it, and I could create titles. Why don't you delete your files, download what you uploaded here on the forum and see for yourself? Maybe you could point out what I'm doing incorrectly, eventually.

I'll upload my working version if you want, but i haven't made any changes in regards to kingdom creation between versions. As well, I don't have this problem on my end. I'll upload it though

Well the new version is on the front page if you want to try. Do it over a clean install of HIP

Hey guys, I noticed that a few people were a bit iffy on downloading the mod due to the whole "Ireland and Wales are Orthodox" thing, so I decided to make a version that reverts them back to being Catholic. While I do agree that some sort of alternate (like Celtic or Insular) Christianity should exist in Ireland and Wales, the implementation of it as orthodox sort of rubbed me the wrong way. I didn't like the idea of Bogomolism or Iconoclasm or some other eastern orthodox heresy possibly permeating the British Isles, or, should Wales or Ireland rise to Prominence, Orthodoxy possibly spreading in England or Scotland. I understand why Walter made this decision (The whole Papal Justified decision that allows England, Scotland, or Wales to get a free CB on Ireland) so that the invasion of Ireland via outside forces would eventually occur similarly to how it occurred historically, but I often play my games starting from the 867 start, and, as such, don't really expect the timeline be the same. Basically, I like to play from the perspective that certain events (such as the English Conquest of Ireland) aren't necessarily going to occur, meaning that the Irish will never get properly converted to Catholicism, and if that's the case then the fact that Ireland is just going to remain orthodox for the rest of the campaign just irks me. Its quite a shame that Walter wasn't able to fully work the quirks out of the Celtic Christianity he tried to implement, as that really would be the ideal solution, but hey, that's life. Maybe one day Ireland and Wales will get Insular Christianity, but until then, we have this.

Anyway, here's the rar folder with the edited files. Just take all of the documents from the "characters" and "provinces" (which are both in the "History" file) files and paste them into their respective places in the actual HIP file and BOOM, the Celts are catholic again :). Now its possible I may have missed some characters or overlooked a few things, so if you notice that some Celts are still Orthodox, just tell me and I'll get to it. Also wanted to say thanks to Walter for this submod as I'm really enjoying it and the stuff its added, particularly the limitations on emperors and kingdoms (The game actually gets challenging the larger you get). Keep up the good work man ;).

Is it possible to play the mod without having to overwrite any files in the HIP folder? I'm hosting a multiplayer-game at the moment, so it sounds like a hassle having to keep a backup of untainted HIP files. I activated VKAD in the launcher without overwriting any HIP files, and it seems to work (Ireland is Orthodox), so I assume it's unnecessary to overwrite?

I'm not really sure. I just did it to make sure it loads correctly. In any case VKAD has to be loaded AFTER HIP. I'd still advice you to just overwrite though since it's easier to do that then to make sure VKAD loads after HIP.

Since you brought it up, why was the insular Christianity solution abandoned? I never quite understood the switch to orthodox either; however, I don’t necessarily enjoy all of Britannia joining in against planned invasions either in the 867 bookmark. I’m no historian, but I’m pretty sure the welsh and Irish never coordinated or supported the Saxon kingdoms in any meaningful way against the viking invasions.

I couldn't figure out how to make it work without it being bugged. For some reason the Bishop screen was completely broken. Anyway in the next version I've removed orthodox from the British Isles, the invade Ireland decision is instead triggered by the King of Ireland being Irish. In return, the scope for the decision has been reduced to 1130-1200.

Btw Walter, I forgot to check back in, but the new version you posted in the OP works like a charm. Thanks!

Yeah I'm working on another new version which has some major changes

I really like that. Could we have a possible ETA ?
