I read over the last few pages and am pretty confused about the installation process. How does a person install the mod? I've tried copying and pasting the folders and it doesn't look like it works (i.e., when starting a new game France is unified in 1066). I've tried not copying them and just selecting Walter's HIP mod in the launcher and it doesn't look like it works (France still unified in 1066).

Same way you installed HIP. Don't paste any folders into the HIP main folder

Assuming I need to copy the .mod file from the WMM folder into CKII/mod ? Any other reason why it would be in the launcher but apparently not work? Love this mod mod, really want to get it working!

I run a few other mods but I don't think they conflict. They're other HIP mods like more cultural names and unique buildings, and I also run BLG instead of CPR. I play with SED activated, otherwise its a normal HIP install.

Well I'm at a loss. Did a complete uninstall and reinstall of everything (including the base game), still not working. I did notice that the path indicated in the .mod file is "mod/WMM" but the actual folder name for Walter's mod is "WMM4.1". I thought maybe it needed to be renamed to "WMM" so I did that. The only thing that changed is now France is actually united at 867 start (weird). But there's still no independent French states at 1066, Ireland not united, etc. So I have really no idea why it's not working.

ETA... Unless those are recent changes (to France, Ireland, etc.) to the mod; I notice that there's the Bulgarian Empire at 867 which, so far as I recall, is a WMM thing (not in HIP base). It would be nice to have at least a high-level change log for this mod so that we have a way to tell if it's "working." I don't want to wait until three hundred years into the game when emperors are misbehaving to learn I've installed it wrong :p

Can anyone confirm if it sounds like the mod mod is working now?

You're doing it wrong. WMM4.1 is the archive containing the folder WMM and its accompanying WMM.mod-file. Paste those two items into the mod-folder, like I show in the pic

Your mod-folder might not be in your Favorites, I just put a shortcut there for my own convenience

Judging by this previous post (which I read but hadn't really drawn out the implications of) :

This submod breaks the decision to form the Saint-Empire-Romain as Francia Occidentalis in the 867 start date, since you need to be king of Aquitaine to do it, and the ruler of Francia Occidentalis cannot create that title due to the special creation rules that prevent the ruler of France from creating Aquitaine. I personally like the setup that removes Aquitaine completely, but it does break that decision.

It sounds like it's installed correctly now, and Walter united France at that start (and at 1066)

Walter changed how crown authority works in his mod: AV and Low CA now reduce maximum levies from vassals. Because of this, he decided to reunite France since the new system represents the situation much better than the old one. Scotland and Ireland should be feudal in 1066, the Bulgarian Empire should exist in 867 and be present in the de jure map mode in both 867 and 1066, Wendland should be a de jure kingdom of the HRE, and Polish de jure territory should be expanded to include some parts of the Baltic coast. The HRE should also have Lombardia and Burgundy as de jure kingdoms. If you have all of those, then you should have the mod installed properly. Also, the mod reduces tribal levies since tribes are OP in regular HIP right now.

I'll fix that in the next iteration. I forgot to say I removed Aquitaine since it caused a lot of problems and only briefly existed.

Any thoughts of brininging back insular Christianity to represent Celtic Catholicism and it’s relative independence from the papacy?

It's unlikely. First of all modding religions is pretty difficult and labor intensive. Second of all since this is a one person project I have to focus on things that are important and/or easy to keep compatible. So if someone else wants to help with modding it, that's fine, but I can't justify it myself.

New version up. Aquitaine related bugs fixed, Wales beefed up with more holdings, Russian Kingdoms reworked and beefed up.

New version up, Defenders in pagan conquest wars can now call in coreligionists like in a holy war.

Probably but there's a new version up now.

Since Fury2 released? The OP doesn’t seem to have been updated since March 2.

The reason I ask, some issues which Fury2 correct remain when the mod is enabled. In particular, the weird bug which prevents feudal elective rulers from nominating siblings for kingship (Aethelread and Alfred in Wessex in particular)

Take a look at the download section. I didn't change anything in the post which is why it has that date
